LESSON PLAN
Objectives: Students will practice to make choices and be aware of the results of these choices. Students
will learn to think critically. Students will practice reading, speaking, listening, writing skills.
Procedure:
1 Warming up.
2. Odd out word.
Select an item from the list that does not belong with the others. Explain your choice.
1 Man woman child cat neighbor thief
2. Apples oranges kiwis melons banana
3. Hat coat boots scarf socks
4. Tiger snake gorilla elephant
3. Space flight.
Imagine that you are going to fly to space. You will be provided with everything you need. But you are allowed to take 3 things with you. Share about your choice with your partner. Describe your partner’s character according to his/her choice.
4. Little Red Ridding Hood (tale)
1. Tell the story with students. (Use pictures, and drawings on the board)
2. Discuss the story from the point of choice.
Questions for discussion:
1 What choices did LRRH have when she left her house?
2. What were the consequence of those choices?
3. What might have happened if she had obeyed her mother?
4. Did she deserve to be frightened by the wolf?
Make a graphic organizer to show how the choices caused events in the story.
RESULT
CHOICE
Students will work in groups and discuss other characters of the story and make graphic organizers.
Questions will help students:
1 What choices did the wolf have? Why didn’t he just eat the little girl in the wood?
2. What choices did the grandmother have? What would have happened if she had not opened the door for the wolf?
3. What choices did the policeman have? What might have happened if they had not shot the wolf?
4. What do you think happened to the wolf?
5. What choices did the mother have? Do you think the mother had a bad choice in sending her little daughter out alone? Why?
5. Situations.
Students will work in groups. Each group will be given a situation. Students will discuss the situation and suggest some choices and supposed results. They also suggest the best choice to their mind.
Situations:
1 Jenifer is a very polite young woman. She is at a wedding party. A very handsome man asks her to dance. She realizes that he doesn’t know how to dance and he steps on her feet. He looks foolish and Jenifer is in extreme pain? What can she do?
2. Mary is on a train in a four- person compartment. One of other passengers is eating meat with garlic. The smell of garlic is making her very sick. She has covered her mouth with a scarf, but it’s not enough to cover the smell. What should she do?
3. Ann goes to the theater. She checks her coat. When she goes to pick up her coat, she is given a beautiful leather coat instead of the old coat she checked. She is the last to leave and she is cold. What should she do?
6. Follow up:
Think about a problematic situation you are having at the moment. Ask your classmates for advice.
