LESSON PLAN
OBJECTIVES: Students will read the situations and watch a piece of video on the topic
“Mishaps”. Students will discuss the situations. Students will be able to
tell about their own mishaps.
MATERIALS: Handouts with situations, video, slide show.
PROCEDURE:
1. Warming up.
A poem “Humpty-Dumpty”
Humpty-Dumpty sat on the wall
Humpty-Dumpty made a great fall
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty, couldn’t put Dumpty
Together again.
So for Humpty-Dumpty it was a mishap.
What is a mishap?
Mishap is an accident, misfortune.
2. Vocabulary.
1. Match words in A to B to make phrases describing mishaps. Which mishaps are shown in the pictures? (Handouts)
3. Reading
1. Four people are talking about their mistakes. Read and answer the questions.
Students work in small groups and then each group describes the situation to the rest of the students according to the questions.
4. Watching video.
1. Describe Phil’s mishaps. Open class discussion.
5. Tell the class about mishaps ever happened to you.
6. Slide show.
1. Watch some mishaps and discuss the situations. Open class discussion.
7. Follow up: Write a short composition about a mishap which ever happened to you or
your friends.
