 Ход урока

I. Организационный момент. Постановка темы и цели урока.

Good morning! Sit down, please! How are you today? Let’s start our lesson with a riddle. What am I?

Teacher: Do you know this word?

Pupils: No

T: I give you minute to guess this word from the piece of text on your desk.

Слайд

T: Time is over. What is the gumologist?

P: It’s a profession

T: So the theme of our lesson is “world of work”. What do you want to be after graduating? You have heard this question many times during your school year. Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before them: technical schools, colleges and universities. What do you want to be after graduating?

T: What medieval jobs and occupations do you know yet?

What modern jobs do you know?.

(pupils’answers).

Card №3

4. For our productive work we must do some useful exercises:

. Now I’d like you to split into groups and discuss the following questions:

  • What job would you like to do in the future? Why?

  • Which is more important, money or job satisfaction?

  • Would you like to do the same job as your parents? Why? Why not?

V. Оценка учебной деятельности. Оценки ставятся каждому ученику.

Thank you. Did you like our lesson today? What have you learned?

Домашнее задание – you’ll continue working with the text we’ve read and develop your vocabulary. P. 33 exercise 3, 4. You’ll get pleasure doing this task.

Jesse Kiefer, Kraft Foods

I’ve been developing gum and confectionery for roughly 18 years. During that time I’ve worked on the technological side, covering flavours, sweeteners and chewing gum product developments, but in my most recent role I have been leading teams of process developers at Kraft Foodshere in New Jersey as we take gums and candies that have been tested and prepare them for mass production.

I never planned for this, but I’ve been with the same company since 1993, taking into account the changes in ownership. I started out in science with a degree in chemistry and my first job involved making soaps and detergents.

Through some contacts, I was told about a job opening at Warner-Lambert – which I thought only dealt with pharmaceuticals but had a whole confectionery and gum division.

One of the most interesting experiences I’ve had in my job was when my team and I were trying to develop a new fruit flavour for Trident Tropical Twist. With our marketing team, we visited six or seven grocery stores and bought every flavour of juice we could find. After trying them all we developed a good basic idea of what we wanted from our flavour suppliers and that in turn became one of our most popular gums
