Цель: активизация и обобщение лексики по теме “Праздники страны изучаемого языка”.

Задачи:
Учебная: развивать навыки устной речи, формирование гибких и вариативных умений говорить, развитие навыков понимания иностранной речи на слух, навыков чтения и письменной речи, расширение и углубление культурологических знаний, повышение общей культуры общения.
Развивающая: развитие навыков языковой реакции, памяти, внимания, мышления, восприятия и инициативы.
Воспитательная: формировать уважение к культуре, истории, традициям, обычаям, нравам страны изучаемого языка, а через это уважение к национальной культуре; формировать умение активно и плодотворно работать в коллективе.

1 Орг.момент:

Т.: Good morning, students. Sit down, please. Today we will have an unusual lesson. Besides, there are too many guests today in our class-room, let's show them our language skills.

- You are right. The topic of our lesson today will be "Holidays in Britain". We'll see your knowledge of British traditions, sing songs, and have some funny competitions.

Our main goals for today are:

1. to learn about different holidays;

2. to remember grammar material Past Simple and Present Perfect

3. to listen about our favourite holiday Birthday.

Do you like holidays? What holidays do you know? What do you like most of all about holidays?

Lots of people all over the world look forward to a number of holidays each year.
While having holidays we enjoy various things: singing, dancing, eating, visiting friends and relatives, playing, walking.

Т.: So, every country and nation has its own traditions and customs. To know English well we’d learn more about British Holidays.

As we know there are several holidays in the year. And today we'll talk about only late-autumn, winter and early-spring holidays in Britain and traditions connected with them.

- We’ve learnt some riddles about seasons. Guess what season it is.

Т.: Well, guess, please, what holiday is celebrated in autumn?

S1: It is Halloeween.

Т.: Yes, you are right. Your hometask for today was to prepare report about holidays. Who can tell us about this holiday?

S2: I can

Halloween is a festival that takes place on October 31.. It is very funny and interesting holiday. They do funny pumpkins and like telling strange and horrible stories about ghosts and witches. People once believed that there were many ghosts and witches on the Earth and that they met on October31 to worship the devil. The main Halloween activity for Children is trick-or-treating. Children dress in costumes and masks and go from door to door saying "trick or treat". The neighbors give children such treats as candy, fruit and pennies. So that children do not play tricks on them.

- So, let's speak about winter holidays. But, firstly, look at the screen. It’s a short video fragment about one of the most popular holiday. (видео)

Т.: Good! Is it a religious holiday?

S4: Yes, it is.

Т.: Do we celebrate it in our country?

S4: Yes, we do.

Т.: When?

S4: On the 7^th of January.

-Thank you. Let’s go on. What season comes after winter? Look at the screen and name the holiday. (видео) The early-spring holiday, which we celebrate usually in April or May. What is it?

S: Easter.

- Yes, it is. Who can tell us about it?

S7: I can. Easter is a Christmas holyday in March, April or May. At Easter people usually exchange dyed eggs and go to the church. Many modern Easter symbols came from pagan times: the egg was a fertility symbol, the Easter Bunny also is a symbol of a new life.

The Easter Bunny has usually a basket of eggs. The Easter Bunny colors eggs for young children to find on Easter morning. Easter is a spring holiday and it has a religious background. On Easter we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today children in Britain like eating candy bunnies and listening to the stories about the Easter bunny.

T: Thank you. Name the symbols of Easter.

Т.: So, I know, that each of you has your own holiday. How do you think, what is it?

S: It's a Birthday.

Т.: Yes, it's a Birthday. Listen to the story about birthday and write down some missing words.

Т.: Great! But, finally, we'll have our last game. As we know every holiday has its own symbol or emblem and your task will be to find the emblem and the same holiday:

S2: The church (egg) is a symbol of Easter.

S3: The fir-tree is a symbol of X-mas.

Т.: Very good! Now I see, you know British holidays.
