Summer is the best period for holidays, so many people schedule their holidays for this time of the year. Schools are also closed during summer months till September. Many schoolchildren say that it’s their favourite season of the year.

I also enjoy summer holidays. We usually go to the Mediterranean sea coast. My parents choose the city, book the hotel, buy the tickets and off we go. Sometimes we choose to go to Barcelona, sometimes to Italy. It doesn’t matter which city we visit, because sea and sun are the same everywhere and I like swimming and sunbathing very much. There are many picturesque cities and places to visit.

Last year we went to Alicante. It wasn’t only a swimming and relaxing holiday. We also went on many excursions, even climbed the mountains. I can say that Alicante is one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever been to. It offers great opportunities for tourists. The climate is mild, the scenery is nice and there are many interesting historic monuments. The sea was also great. We really enjoyed our stay in Alicante. There is a good chance that we’ll visit it again this year.

Another perfect idea for summer holidays is going to countryside, away from the city noise. My grandparents live there and they are always happy to see us.

In my opinion, summer months are the best, because of the longest ..... during the year. I think everyone needs a relaxing holiday after hard academic or work year. So, summertime gives this chance.

People have different opinion on how to ...... their free time. Some prefer staying at the ..... , some simply watch TV and read books.

An ideal holiday for me is full of active ....... , for example, swimming, playing volleyball, visiting new attractions, etc. My parents know how much I like beach holiday, that’s why every summer we go somewhere hot.

Last year we visited Greece. It was our first time in this ..... and hospitable country. The Mediterranean Sea was fantastic and the sun was gentle. Several times we went out to the fashionable restaurants to try local .... . Greek cuisine is delicious. It involves lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, seafood and olive oil. I spent lots of time swimming, sunbathing and playing active ..... games.

For a change we decided to visit some local ..... . First of all we visited the Parthenon on top of the Acropolis. It’s one of most beautiful ancient temples of Greece and the most visited tourist attraction. We also visited a volcanic island of Santorini, which is famous for its dramatic views and stunning sunsets. All in all, it was a great ..... . I hope that we will go there again sometimes.

This year my parents decided to visit the Black Sea coast in the ..... part of Russia and I will be joining them. I’m sure we’ll have a great time there and I’ll get to swim in the sea as much as I want. When we return, we are going to spend the rest of the ..... at the countryside at the grandparents’ house.
