English people celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December.

Christmas is a family holiday.

People decorate their houses.

People usually buy a Christmas tree and decorate it with toys, colored balls and little colored lights.

Children write letters to Santa Claus and tell him what gifts they would like to get.

People send greeting cards and gifts to all their relatives and friends.

On Christmas Eve when children go to bed they put their Christmas stockings over the fire-place. At night Santa Claus comes. He has got a big bag of gifts for children. He puts the gifts into the children’s stockings.

For Christmas people eat traditional food: turkey, potatoes and green vegetables.

Then they have the Christmas pudding.

At 5 o’clock it’s time for tea and for Christmas cake.

After Christmas the children have holidays.
