В этом задании Вам необходимо правильно прочитать текст, не допустив ошибок.

Task 1

Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

The first maps were drawn by explorers to help them find their way home and show people where they had been. The maps showed the shape of the land, distances between places and special features such as caves and old trees. Nowadays, maps show the towns and villages, and the roads, railways, rivers and mountains. Symbols are used to show all the different things on a map and there is a key to explain what the symbols stand for.

Over the centuries, people explored most of the Earth and put together the map of the world we use today. Maps of the world or large areas are often either “political” or “physical”. The political map shows territorial borders. The purpose of the physical map is to show features of geography such as mountains, soil type or land use including roads, railroads and buildings.

В этом задании необходимо задать вопросы по предложенной Вам картинке. Даются ключевые слова, на основе которых Вы и должны построить вопросы.

You are considering buying the appliance and now you’d like to get more information. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask five direct questions to find out about the following: 

1) price

2) if one can buy it online

3) number of functions

4) guarantee period

5) recipe book to go with the unit

В этом задании Вам необходимо выбрать картинку (одну из трёх) и описать её.

Подготовка –  1.5 минуты Время ответа – 2 минуты Балы за это задание – 7 баллов

These are photos from your photo album. Choose one photo to describe to your friend

You will have to start speaking in 1.5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12–15 sentences). In your talk remember to speak about:

● where and when the photo was taken ● what/who is in the photo ● what is happening ● why you keep the photo in your album ● why you decided to show the picture to your friend

You have to talk continuously, starting with: “I’ve chosen photo number …”

I've chosen photo number one. 

Taking photos is my hobby. If I have an opportunity to take a good picture, I never miss it. I have a picture to show you. 

This photo was taken a few years ago in a park not so far from my house.  In the photo you can see my cousin Liza and the park.

Liza is jogging in the park. She is wearing the red t-shirt that suits her perfectly well and dark trousers. Her arms are bent at her elbows. She is slim, fit and she is smiling. In the background of the photo there are wonderful tall green trees. The sun is shining through them. The weather is perfect for jogging.

I keep this photo in my album because she looks really happy and cute here. I like to see her happy.

You know, I've decided to show you this picture because you once told me that you would like to jog with someone but you don’t have a partner. I thought that she could make a good partner and you could jog together.

Now you know what Liza looks like. Hope you will enjoy jogging with her.

1. Помните о введении и заключении (они не указываются в задании).

2. Описывайте не ту фотографию, которая вам нравится, а ту, тема которой Вам наиболее знакома.

3. Повторите средства логической связи или слова связки – linking words .

4. Используйте клеше, представляя, что на фотографии Ваши родственники или друзья.

5. Подготовьте несколько стандартных причин, почему Вы храните эту фотографию. Обычно они смогут подойти ко многим подобным заданиям.

6. Используйте время «Present Continuous» для описания того, что происходит на фотографии.

В этом задании Вы должны сравнить две фотографии, следуя предложенному плану.

Подготовка –  1.5 минуты Время ответа –  2 минуты Балы за это задание –  7 баллов  Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:

● give a brief description of the photos (action, location)

● say what the pictures have in common ● say in what way the pictures are different ● say which of the ways of reading a book presented in the pictures you’d prefer ● explain why

В отличие от задания 3, в этом задании необходимо просто описывать картинки. Здесь нет обращения к другу. Это задание близко к формату эссе , поэтому не забывайте о словах связках или linking-words . 

Let me tell you about these two pictures. I am going to compare and contrast them.

In the first picture you can see a woman sitting on the sofa at home and reading an e-book. In the second picture you can see the same woman in a train reading a printed book.

These pictures have a few things in common. First of all, the same person is in both pictures. Second, in both pictures this woman is reading. There are no other people around. She’s alone and she is slightly smiling.

  There are some differences as well. First, the woman is dressed differently in each picture. In the first picture she is wearing a bathrobe and in the second one she’s wearing a t-shirt. Also, in the first picture she’s at home and in the second one she’s on a train. The color of her hair is different too, black in picture one and light in picture two. Moreover, she’s reading an e-book in one picture, whereas a printed book in the other.

  Personally, I would prefer reading e-books. Having one e-book reader with you allows you to have all the books you want in one place. It’s like a personal library.

  As for me, I like reading a few books at the same time. It’s not comfortable for me to carry a couple kilos of regular books in my bag.

You are considering staying a night at the hotel and you'd like to get more information. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask five direct questions to find out the following:

1) special offers

2) local sights

3) number of available rooms

4) list of services they provide

5) if they have a website
