Сценарий праздника «Погружение в Викторианскую Англию».
Пояснительная записка.
Англоязычная культура всегда привлекает учащихся, особенно, если занятие или урок не связаны с УМК, ведь всегда хочется узнать больше, что выходит за рамки учебной программы. Для повышения уровня заинтересованности в изучаемом языке был разработан сценарий внеурочной деятельности для учащихся 8 классов. Именно в 8 классе учащиеся знакомятся с Викторианской Англией, что позволит им расширить свои знания об этой эпохе и на уроках английского языка. Таким образом, используя данный сценарий в своей работе, мы реализуем межпредметные связи ( история и английский язык). Данная разработка может использоваться в качестве основы работы на неделе английского языка в учебном заведении. Опережающим заданием для учащихся станет повторение и изучение материалов по истории образования, досуга и моды в эпоху Викторианской Англии.
Цель: повысить интерес учащихся к изучению иностранного языка и стране изучаемого языка.
Задачи:
1.Образовательные:
Расширение лексического запаса учащихся по темам образование, досуг и мода.
Расширение лингвистического кругозора и эрудиции учащихся;
2.Практические:
Активизация и закрепление лексики по темам.
Выявление уровня знаний, умений и навыков по пройденным темам;
3.Развивающие:
Развитие языковой догадки, внимания и логического мышления;
4.Воспитательные:
Воспитание умения работать в команде;
Воспитание чувства взаимопомощи;
Воспитание уважительного отношения к соперникам;
Воспитание культуры общения
Сценарий.
1 этап недели английского языка. Образование в викторианскую Англию.
Класс делится на 3 группы. Вопросы задаются по очереди каждой команде.
Questions.
This kind of teacher taught rich children especially girls? Governesses

Percentage of women and men that can sign their name by 1900s? 97%

The class that was somewhat excepted for their morality and ideas about marriage and parenthood? Middle class
People that were criticized for their housekeeping and child nurturing ? Working class mothers
Why did Victorian children write on slates?
Paper was expensive. Children usually therefore wrote on slates with slate pencils. After a lesson was completed, and the teacher checked their work, the students cleared their slates for the next lesson.
Who went to school during the Victorian times? Children from rich families were taught at home by a governess until they were 10 years old. Once a boy turned ten, he went away to Public schools like Eton or Harrow. There were very few schools available for girls, however, until near the end of the Victorian time. Wealthy girls were mostly educated at home.
Did Victorian children use a calculator? For maths lessons, children used frames with coloured wooden beads, much like an abacus. Children learned how to multiply and divide using this apparatus.
What was a Victorian school day like? The day usually began with prayers and religious instruction. Morning lessons ran from 9a.m. to 12p.m. Children often went home for a meal, then returned for afternoon classes from 2p.m. to 5p.m.
What does it mean three Rs in Victorian School? Reading, WRiting and Dictation, and ARithmetic.

Группа детей из 8 класса показывают представление на английском языке для детей младшей школы. Представленный сценарий основан на адаптированной версии Дж. Дули по роману Чарльза Диккенса «Оливер Твист».
Characters:
A young woman
Sally, a nurse
Mr. Brown, a doctor (or Mrs. Brown)
A room in a workhouse. Sally is sitting with the doctor at the table, drinking tea.
| Sally: | What awful weather it is today! |
| Doctor: | It’s a real storm Sally |
| Sally: | Some more tea doctor? |
| Doctor: | Oh, no, thanks. How long have you been living here Sally. |
| Sally: | For fifty years, Mr. Brown, for fifty years. And it wasn’t an easy life, believe me. The knock at the door |
| Doctor: | Don’t you hear? |
| Sally: | What? |
| Doctor: | Somebody has knocked at the door. |
| Sally: | Who is there I wonder? They open the door and help the young woman in. |
| Doctor: | Come in dear. Feel at home. It’s a very bad idea to go out of the house in such bad weather The woman faints. |
| Sally: | Oh, my God, she is pregnant! The woman comes to herself |
| Doctor: | Don’t be afraid, dear. Your child will be born soon, don’t worry! Boil some water Sally. I’ll prepare everything. Doctor goes out. |
| Sally: | I’ve had thirteen children and I’ve often helped the doctor when a child was born. Close your eyes now and try to rest. |
| The woman: | My good woman, help me, please The woman takes off the gold chain with a locket Take these things… please, keep them safe for my child… I’m very sick! I don’t think I’ll live to see the baby. Sally puts the chain into her pocket |
| Sally: | Don’t talk like that. You’ll need all your strength for the birth! Doctor comes in |
| Doctor: | Come with me dear, you mustn’t think about dying. |
| Sally: | God, bless her. Doctor takes the woman to another room. After some time the baby`s cry is heard. Doctor comes out with the baby in his hands. He gives the baby to Sally |
| Doctor: | “Well Sally, I’m afraid there’s nothing more I can do here. She died. She was too weak. Where did she come from? |
| Sally: | I don’t know, but she walked a long way to get here. Her shoes were worn out”. [3] |
| Doctor: | And the baby’s father? |
| Sally: | We don’t know anything about him. May be he’s dead. She arrived here alone. |
| Doctor: | Poor girl! I have to prepare everything for the burial. Till tomorrow Sally. |
| Sally: | Good bye, doctor. Sally looks at the child and puts him in a cradle. She sits down and takes the chain and a locket out of her pocket. What have we got here? Oh, two locks of hair … two portraits and a wedding ring… Sally shakes her head sadly “A very sad story. Poor baby… I’m sorry, but I’m going to keep these things and sell them myself. Then I can have a bit of money now that I’m old”. |
3 этап недели. Мода в викторианской Англии.
3й этап работы предполагает проведение фотоконкурса, где учащиеся знакомятся с выдающимися художниками викторианской эпохи, выбирают понравившуюся картину и делают фотографию, приближенную по содержанию к картине. Кто точнее выполнит фотографию, тот и выиграет этот этап.
