Theme: Writing a reference

Aims:

Educational aims:

  • to explain to students how to write a reference

  • to explain how to use the passive voice

Cultural aims:

  • To promote expansion of the general outlook of students in writing reference

  • To stimulate activity of pupils by the appeal to additional sources of information.


Practical aims:


  • Improvement of students’ listening skills

  • To encourage them working in pairs and in small groups

  • To develop students’ speaking, writing andreading skills

  • To enlarge their active vocabulary with new words

Greeting (5 min)

Good morning students. What day is it today? What date is it today? What season is it now? Who can tell me about the weather? Who is on duty today? Who is absent today?

Today our theme is “Writing a reference.” and grammar rule is “Passive voice”. Today we are going to learn what is reference, why do we need it? How we can write a reference?

Warm up: (10 min)

Look at the picture and name the sources of references



Answers: a) book textbook; b) magazines; c) internet web sites.

Good job dears. Now you should discuss the following questions with each other.

  • What is the reference/ bibliography?

  • Why do we need it?

  • What kind of information should we include in our reference?

Why we use the Passive?

  1. When the agent of the action is unknown:
