Урок английского языка в 8 классе

Тема: A description of a place. Death Valley.

Цель: формирование навыков письма по теме «Описание места»

Задачи: - ознакомить с одной из самых известных достопримечательностей США – Долиной смерти;

- развивать навыки написания письменного высказывания по плану;

- учить использовать в письменной речи слова-связки, выражающие причину и результат

Ход урока

1. Warming up. Приветствие.

a). T.: Well, children, we’re going on to speak about travelling.

If you have a chance to travel, where will you go?

(Запись на доске!!!) – If I have a chance, I’ll go…(3 мин.)

b). T.: Look at the blackboard! Where are we going to have a virtual tour today?

(Запись на доске!!!) –Death Valley

Can you translate it into Russian? Do you know anything about Death Valley? What?(3 мин.)

2. a). For our effective work, let’s divide random into two groups (делятся на группы) Жетоны!!!(2 мин.)

Let’s start our work. Today we’re learning to make up a description of a place you are going to travel. I’d like you to read the text about Death Valley. It will be our example of such a description. Open your books, page 80! Now you have to guess words in the text and then the groups will compare their answers, using the phrases of agreement or disagreement.

b). Let’s check up your answers!

(Группы по очереди зачитывают выбранные ответы, соглашаются/не соглашаются, используя фразы Agreement/Disagreement)(3 мин.)

c). Now read the text again and say, what you’ve known, haven’t known from the text, what surprised you, what do you want to know more about.

d). When you were reading the text, you may be noticed some complex sentences with the words “because” and “so”. I’d like to pay your attention on the “Language focus” on page 80. Read it and try to complete the rules with the words “because” and “so”. Write down the answers into your copy-books.

e). Now the task to the groups – the first group, find the sentences with “because” and “so” in the 1 and 2 paragraphs of the text and translate them into Russian, the second group will do it with the 3and 4 paragraphs.

f). Well, let’s look at the questions of the “writing plan” (p.80). Find the answers in the text about Death Valley.

3). Now, let’s try to make up a description of other places. I’ll give you some information profiles, you’ll make up a description according to the plan from your student’s books.

The first group gets the information about Kungur Ice Cave, the second – about the Valley of Geysers (5 мин.)

4). Домашнее задание: describe any amazing place according to the plan, there are some ideas in your Workbooks on page 62.(1 мин.)
