- повторение будущего времени на материале погодной лексики.

  1. Date. 12, October, 2009, Monday

  2. Usually at the beginning of the lesson we warm-up. So, let’s do it. Look here! Monday – is the day of the week. And do you remember the song about the days of the week “Each Day’s Different”? Let’s sing it.


Each Day’s Different


Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, too.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven days –

Each day’s different and every day’s new.


Wet days, dry days, bright days, cloudy days,

Hot days, cold days, windy days, too.

Each day’s different and every day’s new.


  1. The first part of the song is devoted to the days of the week. And what does the second part of the song tell us about? (About the weather).

So, today we are going to speak about “The Weather”.

  1. What words so we use when we speak about the character of the weather? What can the weather be like?


The weather can be:

wet dry cold

cloudy bright rainy (when it rains a lot)

hot sunny snowy (with a lot of snow)


  1. Answer my question, please: What is the weather like today?

  1. If we want to know about the weather for tomorrow, next week, next month, next season … we listen to the radio, watch TV, or take a newspaper and read “The Weather Forecast |’fo:ka:st|”. This is the main topic of our lesson today.

  1. When we speak about the forecast, what tense do we use? (Future Simple)

Do you remember anything about the FST? What is the auxiliary verb of the FST? (will)

What is the formula of the FST? (will + V)


  1. Translate the sentence from Russian into English, please:

Погода будет жаркой завтра. (The weather will be hot tomorrow).


  1. I’ll give you some sentences in different tenses. Put them into the FST:


It’s cloudy today. – It will be cloudy tomorrow.

It was sunny yesterday. – It will be sunny tomorrow.

It is cold this week. – It will be cold next week.

It was wet last month. – It will be wet next month.


  1. Open your books at page 35, please.

Do you see that man? He is reading the weather forecast (report).

Read what he is saying silently.

Now, read and translate, please.


  1. Page 35. Read the sentences and agree or disagree with them. Find the right answer in the weather report above. (Yes, it will. No, it won’t).

  2. Have a look at the FST again.

We spoke about the affirmative sentences. And what about the questions?

  1. General (Yes\No) questions:

How can you make a general question? (Look at the affirmative sentence)

  1. “What will the weather be like tomorrow?” – this is the title of the next exercise. Your task is: a pupil asks about the weather tomorrow, next week … and the other one says “I think…” Use the words on the board.


  1. Stand up everybody. Go round the classroom, ask and answer questions about the weather forecasts. Don’t forget to say “please” and “thank you” and some other phrases.



  1. Take your seats, please. Open your exercise-books, write the date and do the “Pin” task, please. Page 35.
