№2 The Internet
-Why the Internet is important in modern society 2-what you know about the founders of Google 3-How the Internet can help students in their studies4-Whether the Internet can be dangerous
When it comes to speaking about the Internet, I’d like to stress that it is of vital importance as we can benefit enormously from it
To start with, the Internet has become popular for several reasons. Firstly, it extends the limits of communication as it helps us to keep in touch with our friends and relatives no matter how far they are. We can easily make friends from all over the world. Secondly, the Internet helps us to be aware of the current news of the world in no time. Thirdly, it’s a great source of entertainment that provides people with free online films, music and online games.
Google was the brainchild of Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They met at Stratford University in 1995. They were studying computer Science there. They raised enough money from investors, family and friends to develop a search engine. They called it ‘google’. They made the Internet more user-friendly.
The next significant aspect of the Internet is its education value. It allows us to access the world of facts, figures and knowledge. Students can find all useful information like books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference materials and tutorials on-line. You can either download them free of charge or use them online. Anyway, you save your money and time and get a lot of educational information.
On the other hand, the Internet has a negative influence on people. First and foremost, it can cause addiction which ruins both social life and health. What is more, there are a lot of violent games which can affect a fragile psyche of a teenager or a child. Last but not least, there is a lot of distorted information online you cannot trust
To sum up, I strongly believe the advantages of the internet greatly outweigh its disadvantages if people use it sensibly maintaining a balance between their real and virtual life.
