National Railway Museum At the National Railway Museum in York, a collection of more than 100 locomotives and about 300 pieces of other rolling stock has been exhibited, almost all of which were operated on the railways of Britain or were built in that country. Occupying an area of more than 8 hectares, the museum also stores hundreds of thousands of other items and documents representing public, technical, artistic or historical interest. They are mainly exhibited in three large halls of the former locomotive depot near the East Coast Main Line, near the York railway station. The museum is the largest of its kind in the UK. In fiscal year 2014/2015, it was visited by more than 727,000 people (the world's largest exhibition space is the French Railway Museum (La Cité du Train) in Mulhouse, although it is inferior to the British Museum in terms of the number of visitors).

London National Gallery The  National Gallery  is an art museum in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, in Central London. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900. The Gallery is an exempt charity, and a non-departmental public body of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Its collection belongs to the government on behalf of the British public, and entry to the main collection is free of charge. It is among the most visited art museums in the world, after the Louvre, the British Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Unlike comparable museums in continental Europe the National Gallery was not formed by nationalising an existing royal or princely art collection. It came into being when the British government bought 38 paintings from the heirs of John Julius Angerstein, an insurance broker and patron of the arts, in 1824. After that initial purchase the Gallery was shaped mainly by its early directors, notably Sir Charles Lock Eastlake, and by private donations, which comprise two-thirds of the collection.

National Museum of Scotland In the building of the National Museum of Scotland, which occupies almost half of the Chambers Street, there are two different museums - the Royal Museum, built in 1861 in the Victorian style and the more modern Museum of Scotland, erected in 1998. These two museums were merged in April 2008, still clearly visible thematic difference. The Royal Museum is focused on the history of the whole world, while the new structure tells more about the national history.

The Coventry Music Museum Coventry Music Museum (CMM) is a permanent independent Museum, run entirely by unpaid volunteers. We are not run by Coventry City Council or any other institution, our income streams come mainly from our £3 and £1 entrance fees, donations and grants, plus our VIP Club. Donations, pledges and support is always welcome, as is the loan of any interesting Coventry/Warwickshire based items. The museum is the life-long vision of Coventry Music Historian and Journalist Pete Chambers and his wife Julie. Pete and Julie quite happily give up four days of their week, to work for free, to promote Coventry and Warwickshire music. It’s already bringing visitors to the area from the West Midlands, all over Britain and the world (58 countries as at Easter 2016), and of course Coventry and Warwickshire! The museum is NOT a 2-Tone museum, although 2-Tone is our unique selling point, 55% of the museum is dedicated to non-ska related displays, that look at the music from Coventry, Rugby, Leamington Spa, Nuneaton, Bedworth even touching on Birmingham in places.

Museum of Victorian Science
