Childhood Oscar Claude Monet was the second son of grocer Claude Auguste Monet and his wife Louise Justine. Claude was a five-year-old boy when his parents changed their place of residence. The family settled in Normandy, in the small town of Le Havre. Claude didn't like school, he didn't recognize discipline at all. He liked to draw more than anything in the world, although his father hoped that he would continue the family business and also become a grocer. Monet started drawing early, mostly caricatures of friends and teachers. He even tried to sell his masterpieces, and it went. In the window of the salon, where they sold art supplies, his drawings were displayed, anyone could buy them for 20 francs. His parents gave him almost no pocket money, and only thanks to his cartoons, the boy managed to save 2,000 francs.

Death Despite all the troubles, hardships, poverty, Monet lived long enough. He had surgery on his eyes twice, cataracts were removed. It was these operations that provoked the violation of the artist's color perception. Now the ultraviolet light seems purple or blue to him. This was fully reflected in his works, which he wrote in the postoperative period. The artist's heart stopped beating on December 5, 1926. He died in the same village of Giverny, at the age of 86. The cause of death was oncology – doctors diagnosed Monet with lung cancer. The resting place of the genius of Impressionism was the church cemetery.
