Lesson plan

for the Demonstrative lesson


Class: 7

Aims: to develop communicative competences and speaking skills according to the theme "Clothes".


Objectives:

1. to develop pupils' speaking skills about the theme "Clothes", to aware pupils to communicate to each other discussing types and styles of clothes.

2. to develop pupils' reading and scanning skills, improve skills to think logically and creatively

3. to develop pupils' skills to work in groups, to analyze information about styles of clothes and explain what styles are suitable for different situations in our life.


Types of the lesson: revision vocabulary and developing skills


Types of pupils' work: individual and group work


Necessary equipment: posters, pictures, flashcards for clothes items, handouts with crosswords and other different tasks for the lesson, pencils, crayons, costumes, pupils' reports.


PROCEDURE OF THE LESSON


1. Introduction.


Good morning, dear pupils! Nice to meet you in our demonstrative lesson.

Duty questions:

What date is it today?

What day is it today?

What can you tell about today's weather? Is it cold or hot?

What are you wearing today? Why?


2. Introduction to the main part of the lesson. Revision clothes vocabulary.


We'll spend our lesson in the imaginative clothes shop. The class is divided into two groups: the first group is in men clothes department, the second is in women clothes department. Each group must name the different kinds clothes for men and women.


3. Quiz. Revision the vocabulary.


Pupils must answer the following questions.


Part I.

1. Name 2 pieces of clothing starting with the letter P.

2. Name things of clothing that you could wear to the beach.

3. Name 5 things of clothing that a businessman would wear to work.

4. Name 3 pieces of clothing starting with the letter T.

5. Name 5 things that you can wear when it is cold.

6. Name 5 items of clothes that women can wear but men cannot.

7. Name 3 pieces of clothes starting with the letter S.


Part II.

1. We wear them to keep our hands warm. (gloves, mittens)

2. We wear it to keep our head warm. (hat)

3. We wrap it around our neck in winter. (scarf)

4. Men usually wear one around their neck. In our school both boys and girls must wear it. (tie)

5. We wear them on our feet under footwear. (socks)

6.Wewear it on top of our clothes to keep us warm. (jacket, coat)

7. It has buttons up the front, a collar, sleeves and it is often white. (shirt)

8. It goes from the waist down, it is mostly worn by women. (dress)

9. Trousers or a skirt with a matching jacket is called ... . (a suit)

10. It is a piece of clothing that covers the lower part of your body with a separate part covering each leg. (trousers)

11. It is a item of clothing that has "fingers". (gloves)









4. Reading.


Pupils are given texts. They must read it and answer the questions.



Answers:

1. Who likes to wear warm clothes? - Alec Wilsonlikes to wear warm clothes.

2. What is Nick's favourite colour? - Nick's favourite colour is blue.

3. Who wears high - heeled shoes? - Lora Talon

4. Who likes to wear school uniform? - Nick Brandon likes school uniform.

5. Who wears sweater? - Alec Wilson

6. Who has got a lot of dresses? - Lora Talon has got a lot of dresses.

7. Who hates to wear dresses? - Tina Baleen

8. Who doesn't like to wear suit? - Nick Brandon doesn't like to wear his black suit.


After finishing this task some pupils can be asked about their tastes in styles of clothes.


5. Clothes styles. Work in groups.


In advance pupils must be divided into four group. Each group was given a task to present one of the following styles of clothes. Each group must demonstrate clothes (one or two pupils of a group must wear the presented clothes) and other members of a group must give information about it.


1group - School uniform

2 group - Sports clothes

3 group - Casual clothes

4 group - National clothes


6. Work with handouts: crosswords, colour the pictures.


Pupils are given handouts with different tasks: crosswords "Clothes", "Wear the children", "Colour the clothes".


7. Self - assessment.


Pupils can give their feedback to the lesson, discuss what they liked or disliked about the lesson. They also can give information what they had learnt before the lesson and what new material they learnt during the lesson.


8. Homework.


To describe the tastes and styles of your mother, father or any member of your family.
