AN APPLE A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTORS AWAY.

Цель : Повышение культурного и образовательного уровня и раскрытие социокультурного потенциала личности учащихся на основе ознакомления с британскими праздниками

Задачи:

- Формировать потребности в практическом использовании знаний английского языка

- Создавать положительную мотивацию к изучению иностранного языка.

- Прививать интерес к культуре, истории других стран

- Научить учащихся самостоятельному, критическому мышлению.

- Научить ориентироваться в информационном пространстве.

Воспитательная

- Воспитание уважения к носителям иноязычной культуры, углубление познавательного интереса к предмету

Teacher : Hello, friends! I’ m glad to see you. How are you?

The world we live in is wonderful. Every day the curiosity people can learn a lot of interesting things. Different holidays, traditions and customs of other countries are the most interesting discoveries for them. One can find information while reading books, watching TV programmas or using the Internet. But there is one more way and it is learning foreign languages.

Friends, you’ve been learning English for some years. And I am sure that you know a lot of interesting things about the UK: its places of interest, famous people, traditions and customs and of course British holidays. By the way, do you know them?

To be sure of it we’ll put you some questions. Be ready and answer them please.

Ведущий 1 Some British holidays have very long histories and others are new. Some are funny and some are strange. But they are all interesting. Apple Day which we are going to present you is considered to be one of the youngest holidays in Great Britain. The British began to celebrate it only at the end of the 20^th century.

Ведущий 2 Apple Day is a traditional holiday in Great Britain. This holiday is dedicated to apples and fruit gardens. It’s held on October 21 each year. The first celebration of Apple Day was in 1990. Why did people begin to celebrate this holiday? The answer is very simple. Apple is a symbol of physical, cultural and genetic variety.

Ведущий 3 This day is a way of celebrating and demonstrating the variety and richness of the world nature. The first Apple Day was on October 21, 1990 in Covent Garden, London.

Ведущий 4 There are lots of events taking place across the UK to celebrate Apple Day. Apple Day events can be large or small, from apple games in a garden to large village fairs.

Ведущий 5 Apple day celebration is something like fair, where you can buy and taste the great variety of apple kinds. You can taste delicious dishes and drinks with apples and take recipes.

Ведущий 1 Apple Day is a wonderful family day with funny games, cookery demonstrations, gardening advice and many hundreds of apple varieties. The apple juice pressing with traditional hand-powered wooden fruit press is especially popular.

Ведущий 5 Thanks to this composition, apples are a great product for the diet of proper nutrition. They normalize the stomach and the excretory system, due to the presence of coarse fibers. Eating an apple a day is guaranteed to reduce cholesterol levels by 15%.

Учитель: Now it’s playing time. Today we’ll play some Apple Day games. Ребята, самое интересное в праздновании Дня яблок это развлекательная часть. Сегодня мы познакомимся с некоторыми играми, которые проводятся в Англии. Проведем мы их с учащимися 5а и 6а классов. Команда 5а класса называется “Green Apples”, а команда 6а – “Red Apples”

Конкурсные задания лингвистического турнира для команд 5а и 6а классов

Конкурс 1. “The best expert on British Holidays.”

Участники команд выбирают карточку с вопросом о британских праздниках читают, а затем отвечают на вопрос. За каждый верный ответ 1 балл

Творческий конкурс 3 “The most beautiful apple”

Участникам предлагается нарисовать яблоко и описать её.

Максимальное количество баллов - 10

Для зрителей пока участники готовятся проводится конкурс Конкурс для зрителей « Поймай яблоко» «Apple bobbing» (вызвать 2-3 желающих и кто быстрее поймает яблоко, тот и победитель)

Apple bobbing is a game always played on Apple Day. The game is played by filling a large basin with water and apples. Players (usually children) try to catch an apple with their teeth. The only rule is: no hands

В чашку с водой опустить яблоки. Приглашаются 2-3 участника. Участникам игры необходимо поймать или схватить плавающие яблоки зубами. Руки при этом находятся за спиной. Начинают все это делать по команде ведущего «GO» Выигрывает тот, кому удаётся справиться с заданием первым.

Конкурс “Long Peel Competition” «Самая длинная кожура»

(приглашаются ученики для участия в конкурсе)

Учитель: This game can be won twice over: by the person who cuts off the longest, unbroken peel and by the person who guesses the longest peel before they're hung up. There's a superstition that if a single woman tosses the peel over her left shoulder it will land in the shape of the first letter of her future husband's name (обрезание яблочной шкурки самый популярный и любимый конкурс. Участники этого конкурса стараются обрезать самую длинную шкурку. Яблочко чистят по спирали, стараясь обрезаемую полоску сделать поуже и, следовательно, длиннее.

Самая длинная яблочная кожура занесена в Книгу рекордов Гиннеса. Запись о мировом рекорде гласит: рекорд на самую длинную необорвавшуюся яблочную кожуру принадлежит американке Kathy Walfer, которая чистила яблоко в течении 11 часов 30 минут и получила кожуру длиной 52 метра 51 сантиметр. Рекорд был установлен 16 октября 1976 года в Нью Йорке

И ещё; интересно узнать следующее: в этом конкурсе могут быть два победителя - у того у кого самая длинная кожура, тот кто отгадает длину снятой кожуры; и ещё есть такая примета- если незамужняя молодая девушка перекинет снятую яблочную кожуру через левое плечо, то получившаяся форма подскажет с какой буквы начинается имя будущего избранника)
