And we start our brain activity from warming-up. Do you know what is SMS language? SMS language is a term for the abbreviations and slang which are used because there is need in making phone messages shorter. Now let’s practice a little bit. Each of the teams will get a handout with one and the same text which is written in SMS English. This is what a 12-year-old Scottish girl in her 7th year did in her composition about her last holiday. Besides you are given a list with abbreviations and their meanings. Your task is to decode the composition using ordinary English. Your text is divided into three parts in order for your convince. Some of you decode and the other write down. The second one is the captains’ battle which will consist of two parts: the mini-quiz and the competition ‘Look and Guess’. We will start with the quiz. Your task will be to choose one of the questions of the heading and respond to it. So you get a certain number of points that will be added throughout the game. We have the following subjects: Sport, marked in blue; Great Britain, marked in green; Famous People in purple; Fashion in red. The quantity of points is shown on the indicator board. So you can get 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 points. You can start with any question of any heading. The questions are organized from easy to more complicated. Time for thinking is 30 seconds. If the team didn’t answer, the other team has the right to answer. The team members take turns picking the question of the proposed subjects and provide answers.
