My Dream House
My name's Mark. We all know that every living person needs a place to stay. And that place is your home. A home is a place filled with joy, love, laughter, happiness and some-times sadness, too. So we all want to have a nice home.
Now let's dream a little. What is my dream house like? I can describe it in two words: big and comfortable. It is away from the noisy city centre, somewhere in the countryside. It's a detached house of course, not a small cottage. There's a small river nearby and a green lawn in front of it. From the outside the house is modern, with very big windows and balconies on each side. There are two stories in my house with an open air swimming pool at the top of the roof. Of course we have a garage and enough parking space.
In the basement there's some kind of a recreation centre. I mean, it has everything you need not to feel bored. Like video games, darts and painting stands.
On the ground floor I have a spacious kitchen with all the equipment: a coffeemaker, a dishwasher, a fridge, cup-boards and whatnot. There's also a huge living room with the dining room. So we can gather together with all the family to watch a film or just chat. And for that there are comfortable sofas with lots of cushions there. The dining room has a big oval table, so there's place for everyone.
I want to have a gym on the ground floor, too, because I love sport. The utility room is not far from the kitchen. On the first floor everyone can enjoy their private time. There's a bedroom with a shower for me and bedrooms for each member of the family and two or three small rooms for guests. I also want to have a library upstairs. You know, a real library with high bookshelves and big armchairs where you can sit and enjoy a book.
Outside there's a big garden. And somewhere near the corner of the land there's a small fireplace for barbecue. With a loving view of the mountains this place is the nicest part.
Well, that's my dream house. Sure I have some more ideas about it.... I just hope I will get it one day.

Dialogue А
Andy: Excuse me. Can you tell me how to get to the Barnes bookshop? It's somewhere in this district.
Passer-by: Sure. It's not far from here, on Kenneth Street. Let me see ... now we're on Lilly Street. Walk straight ahead until you get to Martin Street. Then ... turn left and walk past the florist's. The shop is on your right. You can't miss it.
Andy: Is it on the opposite side of the road?
Passer-by: Right.
Andy: Thanks a lot.
Passer-by: You're welcome.
Dialogue В
Teona: What about going to the cinema today?
Sam: Good idea! There's a new cinema by the way, opposite the baker's on Barnard Street. Next to the supermarket.
Teona: Really? It's not far from here.
Sam: Let's go there after classes.
Teona: Agreed!
Sam: There's a new comedy on.
Teona: And now we have to hurry. Can you hear the bell? Sam: Right, we can't be late for Maths. Let's go.
Dialogue С
Will: It's your turn to do the shopping, Mai!
Mai: But why me? I clean the room, hoover the carpet and water the plants. Mum says I do a lot about the house.
Will: And I take out the rubbish.
Mai: And that's it. You do nothing else. And I know why you don't want to go shopping. There's a football match on. You want to see it.
Will: You're right, Mai. Sorry. Where's the shopping list?
3. Imagine you have a pen friend from England called Kelly. Write an answer to Kelly and answer her questions. Ask Kelly your own three questions.
Hi, dear friend!
Thanks for your email. It's great to hear from you! How are you there?
You know, I have an aunt who lives in northern Scotland on the island of Mull. So my parents and I are here now. And I'm here for the first time in my life, just imagine! It's an amaz-ing place!
Mull is actually a very popular island, with beautiful mountain scenery, castles, a railway and small-town charm. It has everything: lovely white-sand beaches, waterfalls, for-est paths, hills, moors and stunning views of the ocean and neighbouring islands.
Aunt Julia lives in the island's capital, Tobermory. It's a picturesque fishing port. I'm sure you also have lots of fan-tastic places in your country. Tell me something about one of them. Where is it? How can you get there? What do you like about it?
Looking forward to your letter. Please write soon.
All the best,
Kelly
