Does marine litter harm humans and wildlife?

What is marine litter ?

  M arine litter is litter, which floats in the sea and spoils the environment and lives of many creatures. But where does this garbage come from?

All the garbage that is on the beach, appears then in the water, because of people. Most people do not take out their garbage after having rest on the beach, such as wrappers, plastic bottles, toys for the beach. And all this falls into the sea, the river. In addition, garbage can form from ships, factories.

How does marine litter harm?

  Curious mammals get mixed up in the litter, which causes them injury and stops them from finding food or swimming away from their enemies. What is more, a lot of animals confuse litter for food and eat it. Marine litter can harm people as they can cut themselves on glass or metal.

What can people do?

• take out litter .
•   take other people's litter off.
• make sure that the garbage is not carried away by the wind into the water
• organize a Beach Cleaning Day!
