At the end of the 80s, a circle of young naturalists was organized in the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren in Ivanovo by the initiative zoologists O.V. Mamikhina and A.V. Borzov. The collection was located in only two rooms. Girls and boys from all over the city came here to learn how to take care of animals, listen to stories about them.

The children's first pets were not only rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters and turtles, but also such exotic animals as monkeys and parrots. Gradually, the collection of animals began to increase, and there was not enough space in the palace of pioneers and schoolchildren, so in 1992, a building of a livestock complex was rented specifically for the circle of young naturalists on the territory of the station of young naturalists in the Workers' village. Then, for the teachers of the circle, the territory seemed huge.
