Winter, spring, summer and autumn are the seasons of the year.

December, January and February are winter months. The weather is cold. Usually it snows. The days are short and the nights are long. The rivers and the lakes freeze and we can go skating and skiing.

March, April and May are spring months. It is a very nice season. The weather is fine, it is warm. There are many green trees in the streets, in the parks and in the yards. Sometimes it rains, but as usual the sun shines brightly. The birds return from the hot countries and make their nests.

June, July and August are summer months. It is hot or warm. The days are long and the nights are short. There are many green trees and beautiful flowers in the parks and in the squares in summer. The pupils don’t go to school; they have got their summer holidays.

September, October and November are autumn months. It is cool. The weather is changeable. It often rains. The days become shorter and the nights longer. The birds prepare to fly to the South. One can see yellow, brown, red leaves everywhere. It is time for gathering harvest.

• There are four seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
• Spring is the time of hope and happiness. Nature is awakening to life again. Trees are bursting in leaf, flowers are breaking into blossom. Rainy and warm weather in spring is good.
• Summer is the hottest season of all. It is a time of holidays and vacation. People go to the seaside to lie in the sun, to swim in the sea and come back to their work and studies, healthy and full of vitality.
• Autumn is the time of harvest. In September the weather is fine. October and November are rainy. The sky is most overcast with low and heavy clouds. A short spell of warm pleasant weather in autumn is called Indian Summer.
• Winter is the coldest season of all. Winter is the time for skiing, skating, hockey-playing. On a fine winter day snow is falling in large flakes, covering the ground. The streets and parks are all in white. It is very nice to be in the open air. But nobody is sorry when winter is over.
