The Black Sea Coast Highway 1

One of the best ways to see Russia is on a road trip

Stop 1. Anapa

The area around Anapa was settled in antiquity. It was originally a major seaport (Sinda) and then the capital of  Sindica . The colony of Gorgippia was built on the site of Sinda in the 6th century BCE by  Pontic Greeks , who named it after a king of the  Cimmerian Bosporus .

Nowadays Anapa is a modern resort city. The town boasts a number of  sanatoria   and hotels

Anapa Embankment

Start exploring the city with the embankment. At the beginning of the century, it was completely reconstructed. Now it is not just an embankment, but a real resort complex, the length of which is 5 km.

Sochi

• the largest, most developed and popular resort in Russia. The main advantage of the city is the climate and the sea. Because of them, thousands of people move here every year, and about 6 million come to rest.
• Olympic Park
• The construction of the Olympic Park was completed in 2013, it became one of the main venues of the 2014 Olympic Games.

Yalta

• This is the pride of the Crimean Peninsula and one of the most popular resorts.
• Livadia Palace
• This palace is located in a picturesque place near Yalta . It was built more than a century ago for Emperor Nicholas II and his family. The luxurious snow-white residence in the Neo-Renaissance style was the last palace built for the Romanov dynasty.

Novorossiysk

• The city of Novorossiysk is located in the southwestern part of the Krasnodar Territory, on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, on the shore of Tsemesskaya Bay. It is the third largest city in the Krasnodar Territory after Krasnodar and Sochi and the largest Russian port on the Black Sea.
• Tsemesskaya Bay
• Tsemesskaya Bay is of great importance not only for the southern region, but also for the whole country as a whole. It is actively used for passenger, commercial and military needs.
