Lydia Skoblikova was born on March 8, 1939 in Zlatoust ,Chelyabinsk region. Lydia Skoblikova-the most famous South Ural athlete. The only and unique six-time Olympic champion in speed skating.The owner of a unique record-at the OI-1964 in Innsbruck won at all four distances, with three of them set Olympic records.In the same 1964 Skoblikova convincingly won the world Cup, again winning at all four distances. This achievement-8 gold medals out of 8-can not be surpassed, it can only be repeated.

Experts, noting the lightness, beauty and honed technique of her running, called her "Queen of skates." Also received the nickname "Ural lightning". Today this name is called the ice Palace in Chelyabinsk.
