At all times, women have sought to look beautiful. Corsets, first swimsuits, trousers, shorts, hats and gloves, ripped jeans, mini skirts and maxi - in the fashion of the twentieth century there was a place for everything. Each decade has made its own changes in the minds and wardrobes.

Let's start with 10-x years of XX century.

In 1906, women around the world literally exhaled - a couturier named Paul Poiret for the first time proposed wearing plain-cut dresses, without corsets. Very soon, these dresses became fashionable - that is why we remembered how the years of the “liberation” of women from the yoke of corsets. Ballet, opera, art, exhibitions - all this was accompanied by a huge number of receptions at which our ladies could learn the art of high fashion from Parisians.

During this period, sport, male-shaped sports figures came into fashion with confident steps, and women's forms gradually began to lose relevance and popularity. The ideal is a slender lady with narrow hips, without the slightest hint of bust or other roundness. The famous Gabrielle Chanel could be called a reformer and revolutionary of fashion from this period. Egyptian motifs began to come into fashion in the 1920s. Designers' models were decorative, with an abundance of jewelry, embroidered in zigzag style. This style had the name “Art Deco”, and was derived from the name of the exhibition of modern decorative and industrial art in Paris in 1925.

30s fashion

In these times, the cut of clothes became more difficult. The quality of ready-to-wear, mass-produced clothing has noticeably improved. Hollywood is a trendsetter in the United States. But even here began to appear firms that traded with the help of directories sent by mail. These firms distributed new fashionable models with millions of copies. Long skirts became the benchmark of fashion in the crisis times of the 1930s. In 1929, Jean Patou was the first to offer long dresses and skirts, the waist line of which was in its place. After this innovation, all fashion houses extended their models in two stages. At first, the length of dresses and skirts reached mid-calf, and a little later fell almost to the ankle.

40s Fashion

At the time, striped clothing was the most popular. The war began, and the world moved to a militarized position, so the fashion of the 40s has undergone significant changes. Women have no time to think about make-up and replenishing their wardrobe. During this period, the appearance of clothes has become much simpler to minimalism in everything. Natural fabrics are no longer used for civilian purposes. Clothing for women began to be produced and sewed from acetate silk and viscose.

50s FashionIn the postwar years, social differences noticeably worsened. Wives have again become a symbol of the welfare of their spouses, as a kind of showcase for those around them. An obligatory ritual for every woman was visiting the hairdressing salon, applying makeup. The ideal woman, even if she was not working anywhere and was a housewife, had to be fully armed already early in the morning: with a perfect hairstyle, standing with a make-up at the stove or vacuuming the carpet .The style of the 50s contrasted the silhouette in the form of an hourglass with a clear silhouette with an extension of the shoulders, which was popular in the war years. Thus, special demands were made on the figure: sloping shoulders, slender waist, rounded feminine hips and a magnificent chest.

60s Fashion

In 1959, the French film “Babette Goes to War” appears on screens, starring Brigitte Bardot. A casually whipped hairstyle with a fleece, despite the fact that fashionistas take a lot of time to create it, becomes super popular. Accessories gained a lot: beads from large beads, voluminous bijouterie, and macro glasses that covered half a face. the most scandalous clothes of the sixties are born - a miniskirt, a symbol of emancipation and sexual revolution. In 1962, which became the legend of Mary Quant, showed the first collection of things with a mini length. The new style, called "London style", very quickly won the youth of the whole world

70s Fashion

In the 1970s, fashion became even more democratic. And, despite the fact that many people call the 70s the epoch of bad taste, we can say that it was in those years that people had more means to express themselves with the help of fashion . There was no single stylistic direction, everything was fashionable: ethnics, disco, hippies, mini-70s of the 70s was the expression “You can do anything!”. The choice of progressive and active young people couturier presented several styles, none of which could not be called dominant. The most fashionable element of the wardrobe became jeans, which were originally worn only by cowboys, and after that - hippies and students. Retro, sporty style.
