This invention was discovered by accident when Percy Le Baron Spencer of the Raytheon Company found that radar waves melted a candy bar in his pocket.

Then he deliberately experimented with popcorn and an egg. Further experiments showed that microwaves could raise the internal temperature of many foods far more quickly than a conventional oven. So, in 1946 the American engineer Percy Spencer invented the first microwave oven using microwave radiation.

Since this time we use this invention as a household appliance in our kitchens.
