The World Youth Festival

The World Youth Festival of 2024 is an international youth festival that took place in the Russian Federation in the resort city of Sochi on the territory of the Sirius educational center from March 1 to March 7, 2024. The festival was attended by more than 20,000 people from 188 countries of the world aged 18 to 35 years.

The World Festival of Youth and Students has been held irregularly since 1947. It was first held in the capital of Czechoslovakia, Prague. The event was held twice in the USSR - in 1957 and 1985. Both times - in Moscow. The 1957 Moscow festival was the most massive in the history of the festival movement: 34,000 people from 131 countries participated in it.

About 300 thousand applications from different countries of the world were received for participation in the festival, and after several stages of selection, 20 thousand participants from 188 countries of the world were invited. These are young people engaged in diplomacy, science, journalism, business, university students, cultural activities, as well as representatives of political parties and leaders of youth non-governmental organizations.

The program was built on important human values. According to the idea, the participants were busy designing the future world through different industries and spheres: from ecology to socio-political structure. Each day of the festival was dedicated to a certain meaning, all the events of the program are subordinate to it.

For example, the title meaning of the first day of the festival was "Responsibility for the fate of the world." Through different activities and formats, participants look for common ground, build a dialogue based on mutual understanding.
