The Sydney Opera House – is a multi-venue performing arts center in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the 20 th century's most famous and distinctive buildings. The building is 185 meters long and 120 meters wide.
In 1957, Danish Architect Jørn Utzon unexpectedly won the competition to design the Sydney opera house.
His submission was one of 233 designs from 32 countries, many of them from the most famous architects of the day. The opera house was his first non-domestic project. One of the judges described him as "genius" and declared he could not endorse any other choice.
