PLATYPUS . The platypus is one of the oddest animals you’ll ever see. Aboriginal Australian  legend  says that the platypus was born after a female duck mated with a  water-rat . British naturalist George Shaw, who in 1799 was the first person to officially describe the animal for science, originally thought the dead specimen he’d been sent  was a hoax .

Duckbill habitat. A profound affinity for water has been observed in these species. They inhabit in rivers, fresh water streams and lakes of Australia. Platypus usually lives in burrows but they turn to the aquatic habitat during the mating season. There is no immediate threat to the survival of these species!

DescripTION of platypus. . It is about half the size of a house cat. It has a thick covering of hair except for its bill and feet. Its back is a dark brown and has light yellow on its stomach . He can store some fat in his tail to get energy from it.
