Introduction

Let's start our virtual travel to Oxford University, which is located in Great Britain.

The Bodleian Library

Let's start our travel with Bodleian Library. It was named in honor of Thomas Bodley(1545-1613). He was the famous collector of old manuscripts. He was in the service of Elizabeth the Queen. Also, one of the founders was the bishop Thomas De Kobem. He created the small collection of books. The books was chained by chains in order to avoid the thefts.

The museum of Pitt Rivers

Relics and artifacts of antiquity are more interesting than books. They are in The museum of Pitt Rivers. In 1884 the researcher Augustus Pitt Rivers gave Oxford University his collection of weapons and other interesting things. To the start of 21 century the number of exhibits was 500000. Augustus gave the gift on condition that Department of Anthropology will be built at University.

Ashmolean museum of art and archeology.

There is Ashmolean museum of art and archeology besides The museum of Pitt Rivers. It was the center of focus of Oxford's research in Field of natural sciences. In 19 century collections were distributed between 4 Oxford's museums. The museum of history of science drove in the old building whereas Ashmolean museum was reoriented to art and archeology side.

The Sheldonian Theatre

It is very interesting to watch the performance in theatre after reading the books. Oxford has his theatre and his name is The Sheldonian theatre. The Sheldonian theatre is an unusual building. It was built in 1688. The lectures and university ceremonies are delivered there. The administration of Oxford delivered all ceremonies in church. But lately they decided to find their own scene for awarding.
