4. Alex has been volunteering for a few months.

5. Sam says that he would like to be a hospital volunteer too.

Sam: Hi Alex! How was your basketball practice?

Alex: Great! What did you do this afternoon, Sam?

Sam: Nothing. I don’t have anything to do after school on Tuesdays. My Art teacher suggested that I join an afterschool Art class. So I am thinking about doing that.
Alex: That’s a great idea! You’re really good at painting and drawing.

Sam: Thanks. Where are you going now? You look like you are in a hurry.
Alex: I am. I’m on my way to the hospital. I’m a volunteer there. Usually, I only work on Saturday mornings. But today they called me and asked if I could help out this evening for a few hours.

Sam: Oh. What’s it like being a volunteer?

Alex: It’s great! The patients are always happy to see me. It makes me feel really good to know that I am doing something to help people.

Sam: Wow. How long have you been a volunteer?

Alex: For one year. My Mum works at the hospital. She gave me the idea about volunteering. She thought I would like to do something worthwhile.

Sam: I think I would like to help people who are ill, too. Do you think I could go with you sometime to see what you do?

Alex: Of course. In fact, why don't you come with me now?

Sam: I would love too!

Alex: Great. Let’s go!
