Communication aim: By the end of the lesson students should be able to introduce themselves and other people and say hello and goodbye.
Focus on: introduction and practice personal pronouns, the verb “to be” in the Present Simple Tense (affirmative, negative).

Teaching Notes (Straightforward Elementary)
Remember
Be aware of the clarity of your speech and the tone of your voice during every lesson. Showing students your interest, enthusiasm and excitement about teaching them is very important. Maintain eye contact with all students as much as possible. Make smooth, logical transitions between different stages of your lesson. Make sure to get to the classroom 10 minutes before the beginning of the lesson to check/set up the Audio/Video equipment.
Unit 1 – Lesson 1
I. Warming up
1) Greet ss individually as they come in. Let them know that you are glad to meet them.
2) Explain ss the meaning of the name of the centre REWARD. Tell ss about additional opportunities for English studying in REWARD. Give ss your phone number.
a) Explain that it’s one of the most well-known and successful language school in Volgograd.
b) Say a few words about the course: it will take 8 months / 64 lessons to complete the course.
c) There will be 3 tests during the course, the first one is at the 8th lesson. Explain that ss should never be afraid of the test, because it’s the means to help the T and ss find out if ss understand the material pretty well.
d) Tell ss that to achieve good results it’s necessary to work hard, to become a team, not to miss classes. Explain that doing homework is an essential part of the course.
II. Phonetics
Tell ss about features of the English pronunciation. Compare English peculiarities with Russian ones. Distribute the handouts. Don’t confuse:

Introduce and practice Classroom expressions. (SB ex.1,2,3 p.8). Ask ss to repeat the words from the box, then to match the pictures with the verbs.
Introduce the topic of the lesson. SB p.12 ex.1. Look at the pictures. This is Alyssa. She's new. It's her first day at work. She meets new people.
Do ex.2 p.12 SB. ask ss to listen and match the dialogues to the pictures, then to listen and repeat.
Do ex.8, 9 (Handout 1). Read the phrases, translate them if necessary before doing the task Ask ss to listen and match the dialogues to the pictures, then to listen and repeat. Все гласные в открытом типе слога читаются как в алфавите.
