Разработка урока-дебатов по теме “Mass Media” для 8 класса по УМК Английский язык Афанасьева О.В., Михеева И.В.

Тема: «TV or not TV».
Урок является заключительным по теме, представляет собой дебаты с элементами ролевой игры. На уроке присутствовали зрители (группа класса из параллели вместе с учителем, который был выбран судьей).
Цель урока:
Задачи урока:
Оборудование: магнитофон, компьютер с оборудованием для презентации в формате power-point, раздаточный материал.
Методы и приемы работы:
на уроке используются различные формы, режимы работы, направленные на совершенствование различных навыков: чтение, аудирование, устная речь. Работа ведется во фронтальном режиме, в режиме индивидуальной работы, групповой работы.
Подготовка к уроку:
В течение предыдущих уроков разбиралась тема “Mass Media” (Unit 6). На этапе сбора информации были проведены опрос про предпочтения в выборе телевизионных программ (SB ex 3), работа с текстом про передачу “Кто хочет стать миллионером” (WB ex 3), написано эссе по главной теме дебатов (WB ex 5). Ребята писали речи спикеров положительной и отрицательной команды, составляли список аргументов и контраргументов для обеих команд. В качестве домашнего задания было найти примеры, подтверждающие аргументы “За” и “Против”.
ХОД УРОКА
I. Вводная часть
1. Организационный момент и приветствие
2. Объявление цели урока.
Teacher:
Hello! Today we have an unusual lesson. We are going to sum up the information about mass media and play the game called Debates. Do you know what does it mean «Debates»?

II. Основная часть
Учитель включает презентацию PowerPoint.
Teacher:
Yes, it’s a game in which two teams argue about the main topic. Today our topic is TELEVISION IS ONE OF THE MOST USEFUL INVENTIONS OF XX CENTURY. You can see it on the blackboard (слайд 1). But we haven’t got teams yet. For dividing into teams, we will make the draw (слайд 2).
Ok. Now we have two teams: Negative which will prove that the television is useless and bad invention, and Positive team which will say that television is wonderful and necessary. Dear pupils of 8 G, you have 5 min to prepare for the discussion. The plan of speech is on your tables. You should choose who’ll be the 1st and the 2nd speaker. I remind you that the 1st speaker just says arguments and the 2nd speaker should give some examples or some kind of statistics. If you want you may choose the 3rd speaker who should sum up the discussion. Have you any questions?

3. Повторение лексического материала.
Teacher:
While our speakers are preparing their speeches we’re going to play the game called “Snowball”. The 1st of you will say something connecting with television: the name of the program, channel or an actor, the 2nd of you will repeat the word of the previous pupil and give your own association. Do you understand the rules? Let’s play. (Слайд 3).
4. Проведение дебатов.
Teacher:
While we are discussing the topic your task is:
Of course, to listen attentively and, may be, to make notes.
In the end of our discussion everybody can make the verdict who is the winner. On the blackboard you can see the criteria according to which you should make the decision (слайд 4). Positive Team always starts the game. So, you are welcome.

And while our judge is making her decision, I’d like you to share your impression. Who wants to say smth about the game? Was it interesting/useful for you? Who is the winner in your opinion?

5. Совершенствование навыков аудирования
Ученикам предлагается посмотреть видеофрагмент Window on Britain 2: part 4 - Mass Media и ответить на поставленный вопрос.
Teacher:
We have some time before the bell and I would like you to watch a short video about Mass Media in Britain. After watching please speak about the differences between Russian and British media.
6. Работа в парах
Перед учениками ставится задача найти лексику по теме в кроссворде (слайд 11).
Teacher: To have a rest I offer you some type crossword. Please, find all the translations of the words giving in the right part.
