“Special talents”

1 этап. Организационный (1 мин)

• Входят учащиеся, рассаживаются по 6 человек в 2 группы. 

• Приветствие учащихся. Включение в учебную деятельность на личностно значимом уровне. Формирование коммуникативной компетентности в общении и сотрудничестве с учителем.

“Dear pupils I’m glad to see you at our lesson. Relax, be active, but don’t interrupt each other, listen to each other and help your group mates. Do your best. Good luck! Let’s start.

2 этап. Введение учащихся в речевую деятельность на английском языке. (3 мин)

Формирование устойчивой учебно-познавательной мотивации и интереса к учению. Осуществление поиска необходимой информации в тексте для выполнения учебных заданий. Умение построить логическое рассуждение, включающее установление причинно-следственных связей.

Look at the blackboard. All these items are connected with the name of a talented person. Can you guess who that man is?

Supposed answers: Leonardo da Vinci.

T: You’re rather intelligent pupils. Let’s think over what can the topic of our lesson be?

T: the topic of our lesson is Special talents.

By the end of the lesson you’ll be able to:

1. Get some new information about Leonardo da Vinci (from listening and reading tasks);

2. Revise Past Simple tense;

3. Use new vocabulary of the topic in the sentences of your own;

4. Talk about Leonardo da Vinci and his inventions.

3 этап. Актуализация лексики и грамматики по теме (10 мин)

I want to start our lesson with the words of this talented man: Change. Learn. Develop. I hope that during this lesson you’ll get a chance to learn smth new, develop your listening, reading and speaking skills and may be change your mind on some issues.

To my mind, you should know that Leonardo da Vinci lived long ago, in the 15th century. So, while talking about him, you’ll need to use Past Simple tense.

Let’s revise how we form the past simple of regular verbs. 

Ss answers: put an ending ed.

You know that ed can be read in 3 different ways:

t – after a deaf consonant (worked)

 d – after voiced consonant (planed) and vowels (studied)

id – after t,d (wanted)

As usual before listening to the text let’s work with the key words from the text. Look at your desks. You have cards with a key word. Your task is to find the definition to it. You can walk around the classroom, in order to find definitions to your word.

Construct – build or make a building, road or machine.

Industry – economic activity, the processing of materials and things in factories.

A geologist – an expert in geology.

A philosopher – a person who studies philosophy.

Survive – continue to live or exist, especially in spite of danger.

Calculator – a device with a keyboard and a visual display used for making mathematical calculations.

Achieve – successfully reach something by effort, skill or courage.

Talented – having some special skills.

Incredible – difficult to believe, extraordinary.

A sculptor – an artist who makes sculptures.

Curious – eager to know or learn something.

Parachute – a cloth which fills with air and allows a person or heavy objects to fall slowly from a plane.

Accurate – correct in all details, exact.

Intelligent – having or showing intelligence, especially of a high level.

An engineer – a person, who designs, builds engines, machines or structures.

4 этап. Развитие навыков ознакомительного чтения и аудирования с необходимым пониманием, просмотрового/поискового чтения (10 мин)

Умение классифицировать понятия и указывать критерии классификации.

Умение делать логические рассуждения и выводы.

Умение использовать модели, схемы и символы.

Учащиеся слушают текст, выполняют упражнение в группах, находя доказательства в тексте. Читают утверждение, доказывают свою точку зрения по тексту  

5 этап. Закрепление изученного материала. Ознакомительное и просмотровое чтение. Монологическая речь. Построение предложений с использованием новых лексических единиц. (12 мин)

1. Now I’d like you to do a quiz and we’ll find out how many facts you remember from the text (you may work in pairs). Can you see the sheets of paper of different colour. You’ll work in pairs while doing this task. Write down your names and let’s start.
