Difference
Описывают предметы или ситуации, которые воздействуют на нас, вызывают чувства, эмоции.
I am watching a boring movie – я смотрю скучный фильм.
Выражают чувства, состояния человека, вызванные каким-то воздействием. Они описывают результат какого-то эффекта.
I am bored. Мне скучно.
Особенности употребления
Прилагательные c –ed описывают уже вызванные чем-то чувства, эмоции или состояния. Это уже испытываемое чувство, результат.
I am amazed by the view from my window .
Я изумлена видом из моего окна.
Прилагательные с –ing описывают свойство предмета или ситуации, которое производит на нас какой-то эффект. Это то, что провоцирует нас испытать какое-то чувство.
- The view from my window is amazing .
- Вид из моего окна изумительный.
Important moment!
Нельзя использовать прилагательные –ed с предметами и явлениями, ведь они не могут испытывать эмоции, а вот прилагательные – ing можно использовать и по отношению к человеку. Все зависит от правильного контекста, например:
Anna looked amazing in the picture! – Анна изумительно выглядела на фото!
He is boring. – Он скучный.
Распространенные прилагательные на –ing и -ed
shocking - шокирующий (вызывает чувства) – shocked – шокированный (результат)
surprising – удивительный (заставляет удивляться)– surprised - удивленный
disappointing – disappointed (разочаровывающий – разочарованный)
tiring – tired (утомительный – уставший)
fascinating – fascinated (очаровательный – очарованный)
exciting – excited (волнующий – взволнованный)
embarrassing – embarrassed (смущающий – смущенный)
worrying – worried (волнующий – взволнованный)
