The Contest of Multimedia Projects

The teacher:  Good morning dear guests, dear teachers and dear students!

Let’s greet each other!

I am very glad to see you today and invite you to The Contest of multimedia projects “Unusual Traditions in English Speaking Countries”. Most of you have been studying English for many years and learnt much information about customs and traditions of different countries. Moreover, you enjoy doing multimedia projects in English. That is why we decided to hold a contest of multimedia projects about Unusual Traditions in English Speaking Countries among our students.

Since this is a competition, it means that the jury will judge your work. I want to welcome the jury we have today.

- Let me introduce you the participants (they have numbers) of our today’s contest of multimedia projects (называет фамилии и имена участников).

So many countries all the world,

So many people life tails told!

Different cities, languages, poems,

Amazing traditions, legends, stories.

We travel East, we travel West

To know so much is best,

So, let’s begin!

-I would like our audience to go on an imaginary trip around the World and visit English Speaking Countries to learn about their Unusual Traditions and customs.

-It’s a good idea, besides we can travel everywhere not only with the help of imagination, but also with the help of multimedia presentations our students have made.

So you are welcome to our projects’ presentations!

The first country we are going to visit is the United Kingdom.

There are a lot of nations and cultures in the world, but you surely will not confuse the English with anyone!

At all times the Englishmen were considered to be the most conservative nation in everything what they do and what they have. That is why they treat their traditions with respect and continue to save them during many years. So let's learn more about the customs and traditions of the British, because studying English, it is important to understand how this nation lives and what it breathes.

The teacher: - Now the first participants (Фамилия Имя обучающихся) from group K-18 are going to represent their project “Guy Fawkes Day”.

- Sport games and competitions are an integral part of any holiday, any entertainment of the British.

And now another project is about Cheese Rolling Championship “Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake” by (Фамилия Имя обучающихся) from group D-17.

- There are some traditions concerning food. Tea is an integral part of the life of the British, like potatoes or bread. (Чай — неотъемлемая часть жизни британцев, как картофель или хлеб.) (Обращаясь к зрителям)

Let us continue our contest. So I invite other participants to the stage (Фамилия Имя обучающихся) from group ODL-18.

- Now we are going to visit Ireland. Of course, one of the most famous Irish holidays is St. Patrick's Day. March 17 is a holiday not only of the Irish saint, but also of the Irish soul. Bright processions, parades and festivities of people dressed in green (the national color of Ireland) are visible everywhere where the Irish live.

And another participant (Фамилия Имя обучающихся) from group BU-17 is going to represent her project “St. Patrick's Day”.

The teacher: - Thank you, it was very interesting.

- The next country we are going to visit is the United States of America.

- Wherever we are, whatever language is considered native, our soul always wants a holiday. And nothing can be done about it - you have to celebrate!

After all, it is so easy to make a holiday for yourself, especially, there are plenty of reasons for this.

Где бы мы ни находились, какой бы язык ни считали родным, нашей душе всегда хочется праздника. И ничего с этим не поделаешь – приходится праздновать!

Ведь устроить себе праздник так легко, тем более, поводов для этого предостаточно.

- Listen to our story about the American holidays, official and not so, and get charged with a festive mood!

Слушайте наш рассказ про американские праздники, официальные и не очень, и заряжайтесь праздничным настроением!

- The student (Фамилия Имя обучающихся) from group ISP-18 is going to represent his work “Interesting traditions in the USA”.

Now I invite you to Canada.

Canadian culture is unique and distinctive. It attracts many guests from different parts of the world. After all, this is a combination of different cultures and traditions of many peoples who immigrated here in different years.

Культура Канады уникальна и своеобразна. Она привлекает многих гостей из разных уголков мира. Ведь это соединение различных культур, традиций многих народов, иммигрировавших сюда в разные годы.

Now the participants (Фамилия Имя обучающихся) from group 13-17 are going to represent the project “Unusual traditions of Canada”.

The teacher: - Thank you.

I offer you to visit New Zealand.

- This country is a tasty morsel for sophisticated travelers, who have already managed to see a lot in their tourist age. It is not so easy to get here, because the flight is not only long, but also extremely expensive. Yet every year thousands of lovers of beautiful natural landscapes and traditions of New Zealand go off the plane to enjoy amazing holidays on the distant North and South Islands.

Эта страна – лакомый кусочек для искушенных путешественников, которые уже успели многое повидать на своем туристическом веку. Сюда не так просто добраться, ведь перелет не только долог, но и крайне недешевый. И все же ежегодно тысячи любителей прекрасных природных пейзажей и традиций Новой Зеландии сходят с трапа самолета, чтобы насладиться удивительным отдыхом на далеких Северном и Южном островах.

After the words “Our jury has finished their work. The word is given to them” you must stand up, take the microphone and announce the results of the contest.

  • First of all, we want to thank all the students who have taken part in the contest today. Your works were interesting and useful. Your works gave us the opportunity to turn to traditions of English speaking countries from different points of view. Besides, they may be helpful during the lessons.
