1 Рассказчик: Good old Doctor Ouch M. D.

Sits and works under the tree.

Are you hurting anywhere?

Come into the doctor’s care.

9 Лиса: A fox comes and gives a yelp!

A bee just stung me!

Doctor Ouch, please help!

10 Собака: A dog runs up and barks about:

A chicken pecked me on the snout!

11 Крольчиха: Oh, doctor Ouch, what shall I do?

A trolley car just hit my son!

Mu bunny! Oh, my little one!

12 Доктор Айболит: Have no fear,

Bring me the little bunny here

13 Шакал: The hippo sent this to the Doctor!

Dear doctor, - the Hippo writes, -

Come and save our babies lives!

(14 Hippo?) Yes, yes, they have the flu,

The stomachache and the toothache too!

Please, come quickly as you can!

Ouch, we need a doctor man!

12 Доктор Айболит: OK, I’ll come without a doubt

I’ll come to help your children out!

But tell me, what is your address?

Where do you live? I cannot guess.

14 Гиппо: Where the river Limpopo flows –

There the Hippo comes and goes.

2 Рассказчик: The wind and snow attack his face (айболит приговаривает»Лимпопо»)

Oh, go back from this awful place!

Doctor lies and stays in snow

Доктор Айболит: Another step I cannot go!

15 Волки: Come on, doctor Ouch, let’s make some tracks.

Come and sit upon our backs. (айболит приговаривает»Лимпопо»)

3 Рассказчик: But there before him is the sea.

It storms and rages noisily.

Доктор Айболит: If I should die, if I should sink,

What will become of my dear patients?

Woodland animals of all nations?

16 Кит: Climb on me, I can swim. I will be our ferry,

Doctor Ouch, you are light to carry! (айболит приговаривает»Лимпопо»)

4 Рассказчик: And now the mountains arise,

Their tops are so high in the skies!

Доктор Айболит: What if I fall? What can I do?

What will become of my dear patients?

Woodland animals of all nations?

17 Орлы: Hop on and you’ll survive

We‘ll fly you out of here alive. (айболит приговаривает»Лимпопо»)

5 Рассказчик: Meanwhile in Africa the land

The hippo sits upon the sand.

He waits and waits, and his sadness grows,

“Where is the doctor? No one knows!”

There are baby hippos, they groan,

The stomachache makes them moan.

6 Рассказчик: Poor baby ostriches plead

In whimpers for the help they need.

How pitiful it is to see

The ostriches in such misery!

7 Рассказчик: The little sharks have got toothache

They have it for the fourteenth day

Their mother is big and strong and brave

But she cannot take the pain away.

Доктор Айболит: It’s me! At last! Sweet Africa, I’m here!

18, 19, 20 Звери: (hippos, ostriches, sharks): He’s come! Hooray! Our help is near!

8 Рассказчик: For ten nights straight he gives his best.

He does not eat or drink or rest.

Ten nights running – he is there

For little animals needing care,

And he often takes their temperature.

Все звери: Look! He healed us all! Limpopo!

Look! He made us well! Limpopo!

We can now laugh today! Limpopo!

We can now dance and play! Limpopo!

Praises to you! Praises be!

Praises, Doctor Ouch, M. D.!

Good doctors, hear our call,

Thank you, thank you one and all!
