Introduction
I think that each teacher knows such form of work in a group like a quiz. There are different kinds and titles of this game: quiz-night, themed quiz, charity quiz. But the main idea of this game to motivate students to learn English, to encourage them. Besides, doing quiz is a team work. I called my quiz “QUIZ-5” and it can be used as in English lessons.
The topicality of this project is that using quizzes revives the educational process, opens up great opportunities for expanding the educational purposes, undoubtedly carries a huge motivational material and promotes the principles of individualization of learning a foreign language.
Aims are
Consolidation of active vocabulary,
development of communicative ability on the basis of authentic material,
development of work skills in a team.
Tasks:
to activate a previously studied lexical units on the topic;
to form a creative approach to the organization of educational material;
develop motivation for further language studying;
to develop students ' skills of working in a team.
Running a quiz is great fun.
How to organize the quiz.
The game takes 1.5 hours.
A teacher can be a leader who asks questions.
The winner team gets the prize at the end of the game and of course a teacher can encourage other teams who don’t win.
A class is divided into 3 or 4 groups.
There are some rules: don’t use any gadgets and all answers are correct so participants shouldn’t argue with a leader.
Teams get a sheet of paper where they write down their answers. Spelling mistakes can be permitted.
In my quiz there are 5 rounds: Culture; Science; History; Films; Abbreviations.
In each round there are 10 questions. The leader reads the question one by one and participants write down answers on the sheet of paper.
At the end of each round correct answers are showed on the screen and after each round, the completed answer sheet is sent clockwise, and the teams check each other's answers. For each correct answer 1 point is given.
At the end of the game either leading, or special counting Board collects the answer sheets and selects the winner.
