The Turnip

Narrator: - Once upon a time there lived an old man and an old woman. They had

a granddaughter Ksyusha, a grandson Zhenya, a dog, a cat and a little mouse.

Old man: - Hi! My name is Yegor. I am an old man. I am 65. I live in a village with my wife Liza, my grandson Zenya, my pretty granddaughter Ksyusha, a dog, a cat and a little mouse. I am a pensioneer, I do not go to work every day. My hobby is gardening, so I spend much time in the garden. I grow fruit trees, flowers, different vegetables there.

Old woman: - Hi! I am his wife. My name is Liza. I am 60. I live in the village. I have a husband, a granddaughter, a grandson, a dog, a cat and a little mouse. We have a small house and a garden. My husband and I are pensioners. We do not go to work every day. But I am busy from morning till night. I cook, wash up, clean the house and sweep the floors, dust the furniture. I have a lot of work, but my grandchildren are lazy, they don`t help me.

Mary: - Hi! I am their granddaughter. My name is Ksyusha. I have a grandmother, a grandfather, a brother Zhenya, a dog, a cat and a little mouse. I go to school every day.

I am a pupil.

I am a good pupil.

I am a clever pupil.

I am a talented pupil.

I am a fantastic pupil.

I am trying to be the best pupil in the world.

I don`t like to work about the house. My hobby is dancing. I like music very much . I dance and sing every day.

Zhenya : - HI! I am their grandson. My name is Zhenya. I have a grandfather, a grandmother, a sister Ksyusha, a dog, a cat and a little mouse. I go to school every day.I am a pupil.

I am a good pupil.

I am a clever pupil.

I am a talented pupil.

I am a fantastic pupil.

I am trying to be the best pupil in the world.

I don`t like to help my grandparents. My hobby is sport. I play football every day. I play football with my friends in the yard. I play football with my classmates on the sports ground. I play football on the stadium. I like football very much. I can play football from morning till night!

Friend: - Hi! I am his friend. My name is Danil. My hobby is sport. I am mad about football. I play football every day. I play football with my friends in the yard. Dog: - Hi! I am a dog.

My name is Jack.

My hair is brown.

My nose is black.

Cat: - Hi! I am a cat.

I`m not fat.

I live in the house

and chase a little mouse.

Mouse: - Hi! I am a little mouse,

I live in the house.

My ears are pink,

My teeth are white.

I run about the house at night.

Turnip: - Hi, I am a turnip. I am a big beautiful yellow vegetable. I grow in the garden.

Narrator: - They were a happy family. They lived in the little private house in the village. They got up early in the morning. The old woman cooked breakfast in the kitchen and laid the table. After breakfast she washed up and cleaned the house. Her husband went to the garden and worked there. His hobby was gardening. He was fond of growing beautiful flowers .There were many fruit-trees - apple-trees, cherry-trees, plum-trees, apricot-trees, pear-trees. He grew different vegetables: cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, onion, garlic, radish, turnip, egg plants. He was busy in his garden from morning till night. In the evening he was very tired.

Summer passed. Autumn came. One morning the old man got up at 7o’clock and came into the kitchen. His wife was already there.

Old man: - Good morning, dear! How are you?

Old woman: - Good morning! I am fine, thanks. Let’s have a cup of tea, OK?

Old man: - OK, dear. Can I help you?

Old woman: - Yes. Take a kettle, pour some water and switch it on. I will spread the table cloth and lay the table. I put the cups, saucers, some napkins, sweets and honey on the table. Will you have tea with lemon?

Old man: - Yes, just one slice. Oh, the water is boiling. Put tea-bags into the cups, I’ll pour the water. Sit down and enjoy your tea.

Old woman: - Thank you, dear. Let’s watch TV.

Oh, there is an interesting concert on!

Narrator: -The old man came into the garden and was very surprised.

Old man: - Oh, what is it?

- What is it? Ah, It`s a turnip!!! I want to pull it out.

Old woman: -Yes?

Old man: - Come and help me, please!
