WONKA - DEPP OR SHALAMET?

The new Willy Wonka film is out , and the big question is: Who plays Willy better? Johnny Depp played him in the 2005 movie. But now there's a new actor who could be perfect for the role - Timothée Chalamet.

Depp was great as Willy Wonka. He was funny and strange. But he was also a little scary. This makes sense because the director was Tim Burton. Burton likes to make dark films. The new film is different. The director is Paul King. He made the Paddington movies, which are very happy and colorful.

So maybe Chalamet is better for this new Willy. Chalamet is one of the best young actors right now. He is only 25 years old, but he has already been nominated for an Oscar. In his films, he often plays sad or angry characters. But he can also be funny. In Lady Bird, he is hilarious as a high school student. He is always eating and talking about food. So maybe Chalamet can be funny like this as Willy.

Many people love Depp as Willy Wonka. They think he is the only one who can play the role. But some people think it's time for someone new. They are excited to see Chalamet as Willy. They say he is the perfect actor for the part. There is a lot of pressure on King and the other filmmakers. They need to decide soon who will play Willy. And they hope fans will be happy with their choice.

Compare the actors using adjectives (talented, famous, young, old, eccentric, sad, funny)

  1. Read the list of advantages and disadvantages of remakes and make up your mind about them.

Advantages:

1. Brings new life and updates old stories.

2. Can show classic movies to younger people or those who haven't seen the original.

3. Lets filmmakers give their own unique view of the story.

4. Might fix problems that were in the original version.

5. Gives viewers a chance to compare different versions of the same story.

Disadvantages:

1. Might not be seen as creative compared to making something entirely new.

2. Fans of the original might be disappointed if the changes are not what they like.

3. Could ruin the memories associated with the original movie.

4. Often gets ignored because everyone likes the original better.

5. Risk of not being as successful or important as the first movie

  1. Read opinions about remakes and write a passage about yourself

Tommy: "I hate movie remakes. They almost always ruin the original story and characters. For example, the remake of 'Psycho' just added color and modern effects, but lost the creepiness and suspense of the black and white original."

Lena: "I love when movies get remade. It's interesting to see how different filmmakers interpret the same story or characters. The 2016 remake of 'The Jungle Book' was visually stunning and brought new life to the classic story."

Alex: "I'm on the fence about movie remakes. Sometimes they turn out great, like 'A Star is Born' in 2018, but other times they completely miss the mark and are a waste of time and money. It's hard to know whether to give them a chance or just stick with the original."

Sarah: "Oh my gosh, I can't even think about movie remakes without getting emotional. 'A Walk to Remember' was one of my favorite movies growing up and when I heard they were remaking it, I was devastated. It's an iconic story that shouldn't be messed with."
