• Let me remind you about the topic we have been working during several lessons on. Listen to a song and determine what it is about.

• What kinds of sport were mentioned?

• What are we going to talk about?

• Great. Sport is an essential part of people’s life. Our president Vladimir Putin declared the year 2024 the year of sport. Our topic is very relevant.

• What goals will we set in the lesson?

Tennis, badminton, football, volleyball, rugby, ice hockey, swimming, ice skating.

We are going to continue talking about sport.

- to ask our classmates about their favourite sports or what sports they are doing.

• Today you’re going to do several tasks to learn what sports you like and do.

The self-evaluation report cards will help you to evaluate your work in the lesson. Look at them. (2 minutes)

• To get an excellent mark you need to have 6 or 5 points for completing the tasks; to get a good mark you need to have 4 or 3 points for the tasks; to get a satisfactory mark you need to have not less than 2 points for the activity.

• If you get less than 2 points, it means you need to revise the material on the topic “Sport”.

Well, let’s remember other names of sports.

Watch the video and try to memorize the names of sports that were mentioned

(3 minutes).

1. Pair work. Work on the laptops, do the task – determine the names of sports according to the activities in the pictures; click the correct answer. Complete the task in 5 minutes.

There are 20 names of sports. After getting points evaluate your work with the help of the self-evaluation card.

If you have from 20 to 17 correct answers, you get 3 points; if you have 16 to 13 correct answers, you get 2 points; if you have from 12 to 10 correct answers you get 1 point; if you have less than 10 correct answers, you get zero points and have to revise the names of sports.

2.Work with the teacher and group work.

Can you remember and name any songs about sport?

The most heard song at sporting events is “We are the champions” by a British rock band “Queen”. 

Let me remind you the melody and lyrics. Listen to the song and watch a video sequence with Russian sportsmen in moments of performance and triumph.

Focus on the phrases: I’ve paid my dues…I’ve done my sentence…I’ve made a few (bad mistakes). What tense is used to form verbs in these phrases?

Present Perfect употребляют при описании события, произошедшего в прошлом и имеющего связь с настоящим, важен результат.

4. Применение

Remember that your dialogue should be coherent, relevant and grammatically correct, use correct words. Помните, что ваш диалог должен быть связный, т.е. логически последовательный, релевантный, т.е. имеющий отношение к делу, грамматически верный, используйте подходящие слова.

Teacher helps to evaluate the dialogues.

If the dialogue is coherent, relevant, grammatically correct, without unnecessary pauses, students get 2 points.

If students have made some grammar or vocabulary mistakes, unnecessary pauses, they get 1 point.
