In the early 60s of the last century, a large-scale construction of the dam of the Nizhnekamsk hydroelectric power station was launched in the region of Naberezhnye Chelny. On the outskirts of the city built a village of hydrobuilders and power engineers. In August 1969, the country's government made a crucial decision for Naberezhnye Chelny to build the KAMAZ auto giant, a complex of truck manufacturing plants, here.
