LESSON: HOW NICE HER DRESS IS!
To revise vocabulary related to some clothes and introduce others;
To use colour adjectives in describing clothes;
To practise the verbs to be, to have got and the words elegant, funny in describing persons’ clothes.
Class Book – page 70 – 71;
Different dolls ( boys and girls);
Flashcards with different clothes;
A hand-out copy for each child;
Coloured pencils;
Cassette
Aim: to activate background knowledge related to the topic;
Procedure:
- A warm-up activity to introduce the topic; I will present a Barbie doll to the students; short discussion about dolls and about the parts of their body;
- Checking-up students’ homework;
- Playing a game: Barbie says: - Show me your hands!
Clap your hands two times!
Show me your left / right arm!
Show me your fingers / nails!
Tramp / move your legs!
Interaction: T – S; S – S;
Timing: 8’
Aim: to revise vocabulary related to some clothes and introduce others;
Procedure:
- I will present different dolls (boys and girls) to the students; short discussion about their clothes;
- I will read ex. 1, then the students will repeat every sentence after me; I will write the new words related to the clothes on the board;
- Playing a game: Yes or No? – I will show them flashcards with different clothes and ask pupils: Is it a dress / shirt / skirt / coat, etc.?

Timing: 10’
Aim: to use colour adjectives in describing clothes;
Procedure:
- Ex. no 2 – work in pairs: one student asks and the other answers:
- Playing a game: Find something (blue)! Students will try to find in the classroom different clothes with the colour that I asked, then they will name the clothes found;

Timing: 8’
Aim: to listen to the cassette and then read in parts;
Procedure:
- Listening to the cassette with the dialogue of the new lesson;
- Reading the dialogue in parts (from tapescript – page 105);
- Playing a game: Listen and colour! Students are given papers with clothes drawn on them . I will give them the following instructions:
Colour the skirt orange / the jacket brown / the T-shirt rose / the trousers blue / the dress red / the shoes black / the cap green / the shirt yellow.
- Then, they will compare their own drawing with the classmates.

Timing: 10’
Aim: to use she/he has got, elegant, funny in describing clothes;
Procedure:
- Listening to ex. 4;
- Name 2 – 3 students to read and then to translate the text;
- Playing a game: True or False? – Dolly is an elegant doll.

She has got green sandals.
Smiley is a funny clown.
His coat is yellow.
His trousers are black and white.
He has got very small shoes.
- If will be the time, I will ask to the students to complete the gaps from one rhyme with appropriate words related to clothes (annex ).
