Hello, my name is V.S. and I would like to tell you about some genres of cinema.
There are many genres of the cinema: action, adventure, science-fiction, western and many others.
I like to watch horror films, disaster films, comedies.
I don’ like action, because there is too much fights and shoot, and soap opera, because it is very boring. I think, everyone remember TV series Santa Barbara.
So, the aim of comedies is to provoke laughter.
They are mostly light-hearted dramas and are made entertain the audience.
There are many different kinds of comedy: slapstick, deadpan, verbal comedy, screwball, black or dark comedy etc. I watched Home alone, Diamond Arm, Incredible adventures of Italians in Russia and many others.
Horror films are intended to provoke fear in audience.
Horror is one of my favourite genres.
In my opinion, horror is thrilling and exciting.
Their plots often include a wide range of dangerous situations.
For example, mysterious deaths, vampirism, the supernatural, zombies’ appearance, great wars, etc.
Through horror stories we can get to know the good and bad sides of people, their behavior in extreme situations.
I have some favourite films such as “The mirrors”, “The Boy”, “El orfanato” (Orphanage) (Spanish and Mexican film).
Disaster films are films whose characters caught in a disaster and trying to escape. A specific kind of thriller and drama. It can be either a natural disaster (tornado, earthquake, volcanic eruption, etc.), or a technogenic disaster (for example, an airplane crash).
My favourite films “The day after tomorrow” is an American film, “The wave” is a Norwegian, and “The Crew” –Russian film with Nikita Kozlovsky and Vladimir Mashkov. They played male lead roles.
In such films I admire the courage of the heroes.
Sometimes I watch historical films which expensive and lavish to produce because they include elaborate and panoramic settings, authentic period costumes etc.
Such films are sometimes called costume dramas. There are historical costumes, locale, spectacle, décor and sweeping visual style in them.
I like Alexander the Great, Peter the Great, The Gladiator.
When I have free time I can watch interesting film.
Thanks for your attention!
My favourite actor
Hello, my name is Svetlana and I would like to tell you about one of my favourite actors Yury Nikulin.
He is known in all parts of Soviet Union and is loved by many people.
He is Soviet and Russian circus artist, circus director, film actor.
He was a participant of the Great Patriotic War.
After the war he entered the Institute of the Cinematography and became an actor.
In 1949 he became a clown in Nikulin Circus.
The first time he acted as an assistant to the popular clown Karandash.
Yuri performed at the circus for more than thirty years, combining work and shooting in the movie.
Yuriy Nikulin played in many future films, but most of all he is known as a comedy actor.
In 1961, a full-length film was released about the adventures of trio Трус, Балбес, Бывалый.
The film got incredible success with the audience and soon became a cult.
In 1965 the film "Operation "Y" and other adventures of Shurik" was presented, where Yuri played the character of Балбес beloved by spectators.
In 1968, the picture "The Diamond Arm" directed by Leonid Gaidai was released.
The script and the image of Semyon Gorbunkov were written specifically for Yuri, his wife and son were also involved in the filming.
The film appealed so much to the audience, but cinema critics gave rather cool review.
The last serious work the drama "Scarecrow" should be noted, where Nikulin played the grandfather of the main character in the performance of young Kristina Orbakaite.
Nikulin had been acting in films until 1983.
One of his last comic roles was the character of the humorous newsreel "Yeralash" Uncle Yura.
People love to watch films with Yury Nikulin. He was a brilliant actor.

Hello, my name is V.S and I would like to tell you about theatre.
By the one hand, theatre is a form of art, but by the other hand theatre is a building where plays are performed and the audience watches them.
Modern theatres came to us from Ancient Greece.
At that time there were not alike they are today: they were round buildings with the open sky in the middle.
They were no scenery, lights, lamps, so they showed plays in the afternoon.
Actors (men and boys only) played comedies, tragedies, dramas.
Most of the public stood to watch a play for a penny.
Modern theatres can be divided into two parts: one is the stage were actors perform their roles, and the other is the auditorium where the public seats.
The hall and the stage are separated by a curtain and orchestra pit.
The stalls are seats in front of the stage, central rows of it command a good view.
The amphitheatre is an auditorium in which a central arena is more or less surrounds by rising banks of seats.
Some seats are far from the stage, so it needs to use an opera-glasses.
Gallery is an upper floor of the auditorium of the theatre where the cheapest seats are located.
The most expensive tickets for seats of the dress-circle and boxes.
Most of theatres have their repertoire, big name actors, dead-sticks, show-stoppers and their staff: attendants, prompters, stage-manager, costume-designer, etc.
Besides, every theatre has a cloak-room, restaurant, dressing-room,green-room and so on.
You can buy a programme to know the cast, their roles and the short content of the play.
Have a nice watch!

Work at the opera began in 1837 and had been going on for five years with interrupts.
The premiere of the opera took place on November 27, 1842 on the stage of the Bolshoy Theater in St. Petersburg conducted by Karl Albrecht.
The duration of the performance is about 4 hours.

The scenery and costumes were renewed in the play for the 1904 production.
Abstract: Kiev Prince Svetozar celebrates the wedding of his daughter Lyudmila and the knight Ruslan.
The guests praise the prince and the young couple. Suddenly, Lyudmila has disappeared.
Ruslan starts looking for her.
In 2021, "Ruslan and Lyudmila" moved to the new stage of the Mariinsky Theater.
Its light and the cast were updated.
This performance is a great historical event, authentic period costumes and the brilliant cast: soprano by Anna Denisova, mezzo-soprano by Anna Krapivina, tenor by Eugeny Akimov, bass by Ilya Bannik.
