В3 The struggle of black Americans for equality reached its peak in the mid-1960s. After progressive victories in the 1950s, blacks became more committed 1______. Groups like the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), made up of black clergy, and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), composed 2______.

In 1960 black college students sat down at a segregated Woolworth’s lunch counter in North Carolina and refused to leave.
