Today I would like to tell you about famous man-made wonder the Kizhi. The ensemble Kizhi is situated on the same name island in the North part of the Onega Lake. The main part of the Kizhi`s ensemble is the Transfiguration`s church - a real miracle of Russian architecture.

The Transfiguration`s church have been constructed in 1714 year like a defensive structure which helps Russia to enhance her positions on the Baltic coast. The church have been created in honor of victory on Swedes .Unfortunately, names of outstanding carpenters don`t save nowadays.

There is an legend that Peter I personality participated in development of the ensemble. There is a different legend that head-master Nestor after construction was ending has thrown out his ax in lake that nobody will able to build the same church.

At 18 century the Transfiguration`s church was the highest building in Russia, her height is 37 meters. Today the Kizhi is open air museum which is visited by foreign and Russian tourists and the Kizhi is the State Reserve which is under the UNESCO`s protection. Nowadays, the Kizhi`s ensemble is subjected to destructive environmental impact and it`s needed in restoration.

In conclusion, I would like to say that the Kizhi is the greatest man-made wonder in the world and I hope, that people will able to save the grandiose heritage of their ancestors.
