Animals of our land

• I live in a very beautiful land, the Urals. This place is wonderful. The fauna of the Urals is not original. There aren’t many types of animals here. I’d like to present and tell you about some of these wild ones.

Beaver

A BEAVER is a large rodent. Beavers live next to water. They eat bark and shoots of trees. Beaver lives in the Northern Urals.

Hare

• A hare is not very big animal. They live in forests. In winter their fur is white, and grey in summer. They eat grass, leaves, bark of trees and shrubs.

Hedgehog

• A HEDGEHOG easily a dapts for l i fe near people. It’s small and nice. They live along. They eat insects (beetles, snails), mushrooms and berries. When they sleep they fold into a tangle.

Wolf

• A WOLF is a predat o ry animal. They prefer to live in steppes, forests and tundra. Wolves eat hoofed animals and other small animals. They live in wolf packs.

Squirrel

• A squirrel is a rodent. They have an a bility to reserve nuts for winter. We can feed squirrels from our hands. They can eat insects, eggs of small birds.

Wild pig

• A wild BOAR or wild pig is a wild animal. They live in mixed forests. Boars eat plants and animals. They also spoil the young trees.

Frog

• The FROG is an amphibian. When the frog is on the ground it’s not too difficult to catch it, but in the water you can’t catch it. Frogs eat butterflies and other insects.

Roe deer

• ROE deer is a very graceful animal. They live in forests, in open areas with a lot of bushes. ROE deer eat grass, leaves of trees and bushes.

Marten

Marten lives in forests. It’s very nice.

Pine marten is omnivorous, but they prefer small mammals and birds and their eggs.

Fox

• The red Fox is a favorite character of fairy tales. We know about it since our childhood. It has the bright red colour of its fur. Ural foxes are quite large. Their tail is long. Fox weighs up 10 kg. In the Urals Fox lives throughout. труаут

Bear

• Brown bear is one of the largest animals. It eats different food, b o th animals and wild berries. In autumn bears go into their lairs to sleep. In spring bears wake up and get out of their lairs.

Muskrat

• MUSKRAT is a rodent, sometimes it’ s called a rat. It moves very slowly on the ground, but swims well and dives perfectly. Muskrat s eat coastal and water plants.

Elk

• A lot of elks live in taig a . In winter their favorite places are overgr ow n forest and swampy river valleys: the bark of young aspen serves elks’ winter feed.
