They also decorate their houses with balloons and streamers of red, white and blue colours, the colours of the US flag Stars and Stripes. The cities have parades with people dressed as the original Founding Fathers – people who founded this country. I’m sure you know one of them – the first President of the USA? T: Correct. Where is it located?” T: “Good of you. So, we are going to Washington, District of Columbia. You know White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. The President always congratulates his nation ON national holidays. His speech is the most important thing of celebrating Independence Day and now we offer you to try the role of the president and congratulate your nation. We need two volunteers. Your task is to make a good speech using the vocabulary. T: “You have 2 minutes to complete the task. You can add your own ideas. The best speech will be awarded with thundering applauses. While our “presidents” are preparing their speeches, let’s sing the national anthem of the USA “The Star-Spangled Banner.” T: “OK, it’s time to listen to the speeches. Dear Presidents, you are welcome to come out here and pronounce your speeches!”
T: “Thank you so much! It was amazing. Let’s visit the next place. It is New York City, in the state of New York. What symbols of New York City do you know?” T: “The main symbol of New York is the Statue of Liberty. In this state on the Independence Day, people watch parades, listen to music, but most of all, they like playing different games.” T: “Let’s play the game “Activity”. Everyone will get a card with some word. Next to the word is the picture. If you see pencils, you should draw this word on the board. If you see hands, you should explain the words by gestures, without speaking. If you see a speaking girl, you should explain the word in another way, not mentioning, but describing it. Your task is to come out to the board, explain your word and others should guess it. Let’s start.”
