Aims:
to revise the material on the topic "My School";
to get pupils to know everything about school;
to develop pupils' intellectual abilities according to the topic.
The Plan of the Lesson
Teacher. Dear pupils! Today we are going to speak about our school. Besides, we will show our guests where this or that classroom is situated. But to begin with I'd like to know if you are ready for our excursion or not. That's why I prepared some questions for you. Here they are:
Is our school old or new?
Is our school situated in Smilyanska or Vernigory street?
Are there three or four storeys in our school?
When was our school founded?
What subjects do you learn at school?
How many pupils are there in our school?
Teacher. I see you are ready for the excursion. And now try to show your knowledge to our guests.
Pupil 1. Classrooms for Junior Pupils. The pupil is taking the group to the classrooms for junior pupils, which arc situated on the ground floor.
The ground floor like in most schools is for junior pupils Its classrooms are big and light. There are three large windows in each classroom with flowerpots on the window-sills. Then-are a lot of portraits, pictures and maps on the walls. The teachers of junior pupils are kind and good-hearted. They are ready to help their pupils if it is necessary. They teach them to read, to do sums and to draw. Besides they teach them to study at school.
Pupil 2. Gymnasium.
There you can see a gymnasium. The pupils of our school have physical training lessons there. The teachers teach them to jump, to run and to go in for sports. There are all sorts of competitions there, and the pupils enjoy it very much.
Pupil 3. Canteen and Assembly Hall.
Near the gymnasium you can see a school canteen, which is at the same time an Assembly Hall of our school. Here our pupils and teachers can have a bite during the breaks. By the way, the junior pupils have tasty dinner after the third and the fourth breaks.
As I have already said there you can see an Assembly Hall where different parties and meetings are held. The pupils decorate it for special occasions to make it look more attractive. The pupils sing songs, recite poems, dance and make fun there. By the way, the most famous school festival "The Class of the Year" is held there.
Pupil 4. Library.
On the ground floor you can also see our school library. You can read different interesting books, magazines and newspapers there. You can find special literature there, too and it helps a lot when you need additional material for your lessons. There are different novels, poems and short stories by famous Russian, Ukrainian and foreign authors.
Pupil 5. Headmaster's Office.
Headmaster's Office is situated on the ground floor near our school library. You can see headmaster's secretary who writers a lot of letters, works with computer and answers the telephone. If you want to see our headmaster you have to go through the waiting room. Our headmaster is always busy. He works a lot because he has to solve different difficult and important problems concerning our school problems.
Pupil 6. The Office of Staff Heads.
Near the Headmaster's Office you can see the room where staff heads work. They work out the timetable of our school and solve many important problems such as the number of students in this or that class attending the lessons of our teachers. Besides, they look after the behaviour of pupils because they must be sure that everything is all right.
Pupil 7. Classroom of English.
As we study in a linguistic class we must confess that English is our favourite subject. During our lessons we learn different words and word-combinations, texts, topics, dialogues and difficult grammar rules. Besides, we read texts, short stories from the books by American and English writers. And of course, the most difficult for us is grammar because it is different from the grammar of our mother tongue.
Pvpii 8. Classroom of Russian Language and Literature.
There you can see a classroom of Russian language and literature. Many pupils enjoy reading. As for me there is no other subject at school which is as interesting as Russian language and literature as it is our mother tongue. At these lessons we learn different rules, learn how to write word correctly, write dictations and compositions. Besides, we read different books by famous Russian writers such as Alexander Pushkin, Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy and many others.
Pupil 9. Teacher's Room.
This is not a classroom, it is a room for teachers. Our teachers can have a rest during breaks there. They check our home works, fill in class registers, write down the plans of our lessons. Besides, the timetable for teachers is situated there.
Pupil 10. Classroom of History.
One of my favourite subjects at school is history. It’s rather interesting to know important facts from the history of our country. We learn about famous events, sea battles, wars and people who are well known all over the world. Our teacher of history helps us a lot to make the study of history interesting and exciting.
Pupil 11. Classroom of Biology.
You can see a classroom of biology there. It's rather interesting to know all about the plants and the animals. We learn classification of different plants, which grow in Russia and other countries. We learn about different animals and the countries where they live. Our teacher of biology makes our lessons interesting and exciting because there are many pictures of plants and animals in this classroom.
Pupil 12. Classroom of Mathematics.
You can see a classroom of mathematics there. Senior pupils study mathematics there. During our lessons we do sums, different calculations, subtractions and divisions. Besides, we learn difficult rules, which help us to do sums. We have to remember all the material and sometimes we have problems.
Pupil 13. Classroom of Geography.
This is the classroom of geography. It is important for us to learn this subject because we want to know all about the countries and the continents. We learn where the main rivers, lakes and seas are situated, we learn about the countries and their capitals. As for me, I like this subject most of all.
Pupil 14. Classroom of Computer Science.
This classroom is the most attractive for me. I like to
play computer games very much but I haven't got a
computer at home. There we learn how to play games and
how to work with the computer. Our pupils begin to work with the computer from the first year of study at school; Everу child likes these lessons very much.
