Цель урока: совершенствовать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся.

Задачи урока:

Обучающие: 1) формировать у учащихся представлений о проблемах по теме

«Глобальные проблемы»;

2) систематизировать изучаемую лексику по данной теме;

3) продолжить закрепление грамматических тем: Passive voice

Развивающие: 1) развивать навыки неподготовленной устной речи;

2) совершенствовать навыки аудирования и самостоятельной работы с

текстом (ознакомительное и поисковое чтение);

3) формировать навыки планирования диалогической речи в рамках

темы, используя речевые клише учебника;

Воспитательные: 1) научить детей замечать проблемы человечества, понимать их

причину, находить способы разрешения глобальных проблем;

2) воспитывать чувство сострадания, толерантности, взаимопомощи.

Оборудование: учебник, рабочая тетрадь, компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, видео- и аудиозаписи, презентация к уроку, раздаточный материал.



Ход урока

  1. Introduction

  1. Greetings and Aim: (Slide 1)

T: Good morning, dear children! Good morning, dear guests! I’m glad to see you! Let’s begin our lesson! Look at the pics on the walls and on the blackboard and try to guess what we’re going to discuss today?

P: I think we will continue working on our topic GLOBAL ISSUES.

Yes, and the topic of the lesson is “Global problems / concerns” (Slide 2)



T: Let’s read and translate the saying! How do you understand it? (Slide 3)

T: You are right, my dear. And today we will try to use all our new words which we learnt at the previous lessons and which we’ll learn today very intensively. Besides we are going to discuss how we can help to solve the global problems of mankind! We’ll form the perceptions of the problems on the topic and continue to fix grammatical themes: Passive voice! At the end of the lesson you’ll do a mini-project!

  1. The main part of the lesson

But first of all let’s play a bit with the words of our lesson: (Slide 3)

1. Phonetic exercise

  1. Vocabulary

T: At the previous lesson we begun to study the new module – global issues and we spoke about natural disasters. They are one of the aspects of this global theme. We met new words and now let`s review them. Your task is to guess the appropriate word according to the definition HO1 (Slides 5-14)



HO1

  1. …. is a huge wave caused by an earthquake which flows onto land.

  2. …. is a large amount of water covers an area which is usually dry.

  3. …. is a very violent wind or storm.

  4. …. is a long period of time during which no rains falls.

  5. …. is a storm in which snow falls heavily and there are strong winds.

T: Now we`ll meet new words, may be you know some of them, if you don`t, try to explain these words in English. ( Slides 15-22)

  1. War - is a period of fighting or conflict between countries or states.

  2. Poverty - is the lack of the means necessary to meet basic personal needs such as money, food, clothing and shelter.

  3. Famine - is an extreme scarcity of food

  4. Global warming - is the gradual rise in the earth's temperature caused by high levels of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere.

  5. Endangered species - a plant or animal species existing in such small numbers that it is in danger of becoming extinct.

  6. Pollution- is the damage caused to water, air, etc. by harmful substances or waste.

  7. Homelessness - means not having a home.

  8. Child labour - is work that deprives children of their childhood

and that is harmful to physical and mental development.

  1. Speaking / short monologues according to the pictures

T: Well, choose one of the global problems from the slides. What can you tell about it? ( Slides 15-22)

Pre-reading: - Look at the texts and try to guess what global problems you’re going to read about.

While-reading: - Read the texts and match them to five of the pictures. Which words helped you?

Post –reading: Mark the sentences true or false (Slide 23)

  1. We can’t do anything to stop to pollute the atmosphere.

  2. Other countries should help countries where people are starving.

  3. Governments should support poor families.

  4. Governments shouldn’t protect the areas where animals live.

Look through the texts again and tell me what we should do to:

  • reduce the global warming

  • help starving people

  • prevent child labour

  • to save endangered species

  1. During listening you should watch the text in your SB and underline the expressions from ex.4 p. 77. in this dialogue. Did you understand the task? OK.

  2. During listening and reading this dialogue you have come across some numbers. Now listen once more and tell what do these numbers represent?

  1. Grammar point. Passive voice. (Slides 24-26)

T: Kids let’s revise how do we form passive voice? Look at the blackboard and tell me the rule

P: We form Passive voice with the help of auxiliary verb –to be- and the Past Participle of the main verb.

T: Now let’s do an exercise. Your task is to choose an appropriate verb form.



  1. Project. (Slide 27)

T: Now you’re going to use all your knowledge according to the theme of the lesson and make a project. You’ll listen to and watch a part of the video of a famous singer Michael Jackson and your task will be to make a mini-project about global concerns from this video and ways how to solve those problems using appropriate words and word-combinations on the cards . First of all let’s try to catch the main idea.

  1. Pupils watch the video and make a suggestion about the main idea.

  2. Listen again and fill in the missing words.

  3. Choose one of the global concerns from the video, tell about it and propose the ways of solving it then present your projects to the class. Tell us: Which issue do you think is the most urgent nowadays? Why do you think so? What can we do to solve this global problem?
