ALI BABA AND THE 40 THIEVES

Ali Baba Hello! I am Ali Baba from Persia. I am a poor woodcutter. I have to work very hard to take care of my wife and three children.
Once I went to the forest to cut some wood. I wanted to sell it at the market. While I was cutting wood I saw a cloud of dust far away. I climbed a tree and soon after 40 men appeared. They were riding horses and carrying bags full of treasure.
The Captain of the thieves stood in front of a big rock and said:
The Captain: Open, Sesame!
Ali Baba: The rock suddenly opened. There was a cave behind it. The thieves took bags into the cave. The rock closed behind them. Some time later the rock opened again. Thieves came out without their bags.
The Captain: Close, Sesame!
Ali Baba: The thieves left. I stood in front of the rock and said magic words: Open, Seasame!
I walked inside the cave and filled my bags with gold.
When I came home my wife was very happy. At that moment my brother Cassim and his wife arrived for a visit.
Cassim: Where did you find all this gold, Ali Baba? I want some gold too! Tell me more about this cave.
Ali Baba: Next morning Cassim went to the forest and got inside the Cave. He filled his bags with gold. But he forgot the magic words. The thieves found Cassim and killed him. When I walked inside the cave I discovered my brother dead.
Morgiana, Cassim’s servant, helped me take care of everything.
When the thieves returned to the cave, Cassim’s body wasn’t there.
The Captain: Somebody else knows our secret! We must find him! I will dress as an oil merchant and my men will hide in oil jars. Let’s go to Cassim’s house where Ali Baba lives now!
The Captain: I am an oil merchant. I am very tired. Can I stay here for the night?
Ali Baba: You’re welcome, come in!
The other thieves waited for the Captain’s signal to get in the house and kill Ali Baba. But Morjiana discovered their plan.
Morgiana: I went to get some oil from the oil jars and I discovered 39 thieves inside them. I poured boiling oil on the thieves and killed them.
The Captain: Oh, no! They know everything and my men are dead. Ali Baba must pay for this! But now I must escape.
Ali Baba: Some days later the Captain returned to Cassim’s house dressed as a silk merchant. But Morgiana recognized him at once.
Morgiana: I know who you are, thief! Take this and never come back!
Ali Baba: I thanked Morgiana for her help and made her a member of our family. We have lived happily ever after!
